Pine Barren Gentians getting ready to open up! Hope to get back out to see them in full bloom later this fall...and look for some ladies' tresses...!
Beautiful light out there yesterday, and a few Common Nighthawks flying around at dusk.

I was looking at the Gentian plant itself two weeks ago and they are really dull. But the flower sure makes up for it. Your photo of the Gentian appears to be at the Gentian curve in the Parker Preserve. I asked Jessica and she agreed. Then again maybe not

And yes, without the flowers they really blend into the background. I'd spot one budding and lose sight of it seconds later.

I went to the spot where Bob and I found the Gentian two weeks ago. It is pretty remote and nobody knows they are there for sure. I did get a photo of the plant itself. Pretty dull.
