The A-Cats are coming, racing this evening on the Toms River as a kick off to the Wooden Boat Festival at Huddy Park in Toms River tomorrow. If you like things old, its a pretty neat sight. They will also be featured in August at the Maritime Festival in Tuckerton.

From a coupla years back, the Sandbaggers from Philly also paid a visit.

A couple of years ago, there was a pair of A cats from the Barnegat Bay repaired or overhauled at the Philadelphia Seaport facility. They were touted as being quite the racing machines in their day. Nice to see them being used as such, and being promoted in a positive way. They are decendents of local style craft that were "beefed up" to haul their catch, be it shell fish, or waterfowl, to market or to the hotels in the region. (There not being refrigeration back then, the fastest boats got the best price). :science:
