Backed by popular opinion, New Jersey’s Antler Point Restriction program is expanding. Antler Point Restriction is designed to protect young bucks with small antlers from hunters, in the hopes that they grow into older bucks with larger antlers.

Deer Management Zones 28, 30, 31, 34 and 47, which span portions of Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem, Atlantic and Cape May counties, will be included in the program beginning with the 2011 Fall Bow Deer Season.

According to the new regulations, any antlered deer taken in any of these zones must have at least three points (tines of the antler) on one side of the rack. Antler points are defined as any point at least one inch long from its tip to its base line.
