State officials are euthanizing about 25,000 trout after a fatal disease was found in some fish at a hatchery in New Jersey.
Officials say furunculosis was discovered in the lowermost portion of the concrete raceway system of the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Oxford.
The Fish and Wildlife Division believes the disease was transferred to the Warren County hatchery by birds feeding on infected fish in the wild.
The disease can't be transmitted to people.
