Hasn't this spring/early summer been much wetter than normal? We've had very few what I'd call "nice" days. It's been humid, cloudy, hazy...yucky. And we've had many 7-10 day periods of rainy weather, of which another one we are about to enter, as yet another front stalls out.
I've been following weather since I was a kid, and between this unusual winter, and even more unusual spring, I have to wonder if global warming is at least partially responsible for this.
Why our weather has stunk has to due with a mis-positioned and abnormally strong high pressure area in the Atlantic. This high pressure has positioned itself much more north than usual, and is blocking drier air from moving in from the west. The result is humid, wet conditions with the southerly flow from the tropics.
The persistance of this high, which has been there since at least May, has led to rainfall much higher than normal, probably a catalyst in the gypsy moth invasion, which has defoliated the oaks in the woods more than I have ever seen. In many areas, the oaks are bare!
All I know is, this weather sucks, keeps me inside. High humidity kills me more than heat itself, and all the clouds make all my photos come out crappy. I'm sick of the weather being "stuck" like this. I never seen patterns get stuck like this so often. We didn't get a winter, we didn't get a spring, now we're not getting a summer. I'm sick of all the clouds and humidity! I want my dry air!
