Not pine barrens related, but every once in a while something happens which puts life in perspective. Friday, I was hiking at Forsythe when my son called. He was in Maryland, on his way home from Kentucky for the holidays and was involved in an accident (him, 5 other cars and the dump truck that caused it). As a parent, this is a call that I guess we all worry about getting. I was thankful that he was ok, no one else was injured, and he was able to work out the road side details (tow truck, accident report). My wife and I very thankfully went to get him at the shop where his car was towed Friday afternoon/night. Believe me, we are thankful parents today. It put a lot of non essentials in perspective, thats for sure!

I'm glad everything is all right. I know exactly what you mean. We bring them up to adulthood, and when we turn them loose we close our eyes, cross our fingers, and pray nothing happens to them. It's basically out of our control.

Glad he is ok. In the end that is all that matters.

My daughter, a sophomore, arrived in Cancun yesterday. This morning, someone walked up to me and said..."did you hear about the hotel fire in Mexico...many students were affected". It was then I said...please God, not my Kara Lee.

I heard that on the news. She's safe and ok?
