:) hi,wanted to post on sunday my trip to the above places, but i had an emergency call while i was at paint island spring.left around 12 noon on sunday, proceede first to the acme in mount laurel on rt.38 where my friend works who lives in tabernacle.he invited me and my friend george over for some cold ones at his house later:guinness: after our trip was finished,of course we said yes.(buds, yuengling lager)left the store, went on 295 north to 195 east, got off at 537 east(around great adventure)took to freehold, wanted to visit st. peters episcopal church on throckmorton street, but decided to go to topanemus first.went north on rt.79 to around rt.18 in marlboro, proceede to topanemus site.parked on very mushy grass on side of road, saw the signs, one is blue sayiny the trail to the old burying ground, the other says the site was cleaned up by boy scout troop 86,the other is a sign stating the history of the site, services for the scottish and english quakers who later converted to the anglican church by the rev.keith who is famous for surveying the keith line.entered the trail(over 1000 feet)nestled in between some very pricey homes with inground pools, trail had alot of washouts due to recent rains, bypassed alot through thorns, one was the longest i ever felt,6 feet long through the groin area:( ,spooked a herd of 50 deer, one real nice buck, came upon the rise of the hill, gravestoes finally, angelface skull and crossbones, one person was 37 yrs.old who died of the cancer, pres.nixon said in the 70s we were going to fighy cancer and win it,still fighting it today 269 years later.sore spot for me as it took my mom and dad.looked for any outline of the meetinghouse, couldnt find, anyone have any knowledge of where it was in relation to the cemetary(old map, literature)probably at some persons inground pool?great that the developer left this hallowed ground alone.lots of broken stones probably due to vandalism:jeffd: went back down the trail to the car, missed the thornies this time:) rode to old tennant church and cemetary, but decided it was getting late, will visit another time, went through monmouth battlefield(rt.522)also decided to visit another time with my friend george.also decided to skip st.peters in freehold, where people were moved from topanemus due to vandalism:jeffd: got on 537 west to head back home, wanted a scenic easy drive this time, when i told george i wanted to show him paint island spring, which i visited in the early 80s.got to the bridge, parked at the fence, george was amazed at the brownish, orangish marsh.spring water was real clear ,was thirsty, took a irony drink, figured it would soothe my lower back pain, almost tastes like the water at my marina on great bay boulevard in little egg harbor, noticed some little brickwork left encircling the stream.cell call came from my wife, saying the kid was in the hospital, left in a rush, took 537 to 73(doing the speed limit)to the betsy ross bridge to the hospital, kid was ok:) ,a pleasurable trip,my friend called from tabernacle saying the beer was nice and cold, maybe monday night(tonight):)
