Took a hike in wharton today.South of hampton furnace down towards lower forge. Someone has spent alot of time pilling cut trees across the trails. Is this the hunt clubs or some other group?

What are those red and blue things in the road?

I would assume you have to be correct Steve.

Not sure if this is related, but a friend was telling me that he was out recently and there was a large felled tree across a trail in the Quaker Bridge area. He winched it out of the way.

Interesting that the first possible explanation that popped into your head was a "hunt club". Allow me to generalize and infer.
Most gun clubs in the pines, especially the deeper pines, are long-established clubs with traditional pieces that they drive each year. They are used to seeing other non-hunting people in the woods during hunting season.
While they piss and moan alot about another club hitting one of their pieces before they get there, they wouldn't go to the childish trouble of placing a handful of logs across a road that could easily be tossed out of the way by their many members.
A more plausible explanation is that the logs were placed there by someone like me when I was a 19 year old smartass and I thought I could screw up somebody's day by making them have to exit their truck (now it would most likely be an SUV) and pull all those logs out of the way. :D
Thankfully, I am a changed man at 47 and I would be the first one to help you drag those logs out of the way.

Good one Jessica!

I have a road on the Factory Branch exactly like that. It is protecting a neat campsite on the river. Guess they want to keep it to themselves. I just move 'em too.

As a side note, I noticed that after the wet heavy snow storm there was an abundance of downed trees. There was a spot (several miles) in Lebanon that huge trees were snapped in half, at first I thought someone was trying to block the road till I realized it was the heavy snow that snapped them. Some of these trees were huge.

Obviously these trees pictured were laid there. Yeah, it really doesn't make for much of a deterant. Hey, they could have blocked the road in a much more dangerous way, at least they didn't go to that extreme.

Well it was a long, slow process and if you ask my wife, I still got a long way to go!
I think today I will go block a few roads and pee on some historical ruins just to regain some youthful exhuberance.
Just kidding.
