this report is a little late being posted as it took place over a month ago. I took my son Jack on one of our frequent hikes to the Franklin Parker Preserve.
golden heather
A Little guy in a big woods
below the old trestle
an OLD Pepsi can near the trestle
Making sand angles (he already did snow angles in the winter)
running up the old rail bed embankments is alot of fun when you're two...it's alot of fun when you're 38 also.
We came across a fence lizard in some dead fall. this was not the first time Jack has seen a fence lizard but it is always a thrill. Anyway, Jack said "Hi" to the lizard and, very unexpectedly, the lizard come racing out of the dead fall, runs up to Jacks shoe, touches it, and returns to the exact same spot on the dead fall. I never saw this happen before. Jack looked up at me and said, "He come over to say Hi". It was pretty funny.
On the way home I rescued a painted turtle from the dangers of route 532. As always, Jack got a brief visit with the turtle before he was released.
Happy Trails,
Jeff
