Near Mt. Misery
this report is a little late being posted as it took place over a month ago. I took my son Jack on one of our frequent hikes to the Franklin Parker Preserve.

We came across a fence lizard in some dead fall. this was not the first time Jack has seen a fence lizard but it is always a thrill. Anyway, Jack said "Hi" to the lizard and, very unexpectedly, the lizard come racing out of the dead fall, runs up to Jacks shoe, touches it, and returns to the exact same spot on the dead fall. I never saw this happen before. Jack looked up at me and said, "He come over to say Hi". It was pretty funny.

On the way home I rescued a painted turtle from the dangers of route 532. As always, Jack got a brief visit with the turtle before he was released.

Nice report Jeff, i really enjoy it the most when a father has an outing with his son or daughter, especially in the Pine Barrens, enjoy every moment of your treasure, before you know it the winds of time will produce a fine young man.

Excellent!
Get him out often. You'll find it may get a little harder to do as you go along. Seems an affliction of the time we live in. You're sharing good stuff, and as you can see, reliving some of it through his eyes in a way you might have forgotten to look at it. Walking along the rails he reminds me very much of my walks with Jason at the same age. Funny to see him in a light jacket even a few weeks back. We've had some funky weather even up till days ago. Try to take a moment here and there to write down the wisdoms he shares with you on your trips. My son was just about the same age when he offered up my signiature. Thanks again for taking us along.

It looks like Jack is waiting for the Delorean along the tracks in the second photo. I love that photo!
