I had to look that one up....that's a big "shark"....yikes.

We did some shark teeth hunting in FL at Venice Beach some years back, a hotspot for finding the big guys teeth. Found a lot of teeth, but none like this. Pretty amazing the numbers of teeth at that location.

Fantastic! I lived in Amelia Island, FL for a year and shark tooth beach collecting was practiced by many....I grew up at the Jersey shore and never thought once about sharks in the water (obviously they are there) but Florida's waters always made me pause.....still swam in the water just not near dusk or sunrise.

There are two locations I know of in Monmouth County where you can seine for them; our kids used to go with school groups.

As far as sharks in the water, there is a pretty good fishery during the summer months for Brown sharks in Barnegat and Great Bays near the inlets. Best at night. The NY bight is considered a Great White breeding ground.
