I finally made it to Wharton State Forest.

Gateway to the pine barrens. At least for me.

Pleasant Mills Church near Batsto.

Another view of the church.

I did not walk on that bridge. Too risky.

I did not see those Bald Cypress Trees but I did like these trees.

Plenty of hiking trail opportunities.

Reminds me of the Old West. At least from television shows of yesteryear.

Batsto Lake and River.

Another view of the river and lake.

IMG_20210602_012919~2.jpg

Gorgeous view.

IMG_20210602_013110~2.jpg

I could spend hours here.

IMG_20210602_014632~2.jpg

And hours hiking these trails. Nice and wide.

I have videos of my trip today on my YouTube channel.

Cool monster truck style vehicle. Little brother of Bigfoot.

Batsto Mansion.

Batsto Lake.

I am far from a piney but I am on the right track.

I will to return to Wharton to see Atsion and other sites.

Round Two some hours from now.
First Batsto accomplished and now Atsion is next.
I did a trial mini walk in Hammonton hours ago.
I am in Atlantic City relaxing with the cool air.

Return trip to Hammonton can be by taxi.
We will see.

I did the walk in the morning.
I made a reservation for a taxi ride back.
Only twenty dollars.
Resting now and enjoying the lake.
More photos and videos before I leave.
I do not see any old buildings.

Talk about someone who wants to see the pines! An eight mile walk up 206 on a 90 degree day ain't no joke.In weather like that I don't only stay c;lose to the streams I stay in em.

I am dedicated to sharing my New Jersey experiences on this fine forum.
I also enjoy the trips since I never thought of them before this forum.
I make up for the debacle of my fellow Long Island former member LIP.
He never once posted a New Jersey photo of a New Jersey jewel.
He posted photos of another state's parks on this fine New Jersey forum.
Clueless person he is and was.

Very enjoyable two days I had.
Yesterday afternoon from NYC.
Stopped at Roebling and Riverside NJ by the scenic Delaware River.
Later last night I stopped in Pennsauken and Lindenwold and Hammonton and Atlantic City.
I even saw three casinos and the broadwalk at 3 am.
People still playing games and enjoying themselves.
I did not sleep but I was hyped up to visit Atsion.
Got to Hammonton before 7 am and walked slowly those nine miles.
I enjoyed Atison although I prefer Batsto.
Got a taxi back to Hammonton and tasty drinks at a Wawa grocery.
I am near NYC on NJ Transit and will get an early good night sleep before work tomorrow.

Again many thanks to Ben Teegate Boyd and others for mentioning those places for me and other new members to check out.
I have more videos of my two days trip on recent YouTube channel videos.

Some of my videos of Atsion Lake.
Closed to swimmers for safety reasons.

One of the staff at Atsion did mention some historic structures still exist.
I almost checked them but I was tired from walking and sleep deprivation.
Perhaps one day when it is cooler.

The lady at Atison mentioned that.
I almost did the cross of route 206 but my taxi driver was enroute to Atison.
His schedule was very tight and I did not want to wait for another opening.
That would delay my trip home with missed connections.
I would have most likely arrived home after midnight.
Thankfully I am finally home and ready for sleep.
I was tired after the overnight trip and long morning walk.
Perhaps during Fall foliage those buildings would make for nice photos.

I really think a foldable bicycle would compliment your method of travel.

Had a great rest and getting ready for work.
Foldable bicycle is beneficial but I like to travel light on my journeys.
Plus I would have been nervous about bicycling on busy route 206.
At least walking I have a wide road shoulder to be away from the oncoming traffic.
Route 206 is busy as most of you know that.
A few more photos from yesterday.

Route 206 during a break with no traffic.

Track which The Blue Comet rode on looking southwest.

Track looking northeast at route 206.
I read there was a station near here a century ago.
Would be nice if they still had it with local service.
