I missed a shot of an otter that swam right up to me. I saw the ice moving and he popped up 50 feet away, and came within 15 feet. I was so surprised that by the time I grabbed my camera he was gone.

Like usual, very nice work Jon. I was excited when you showed the pic of the Snowy Owl, but blown away by the nesting pair of Bald Eagles sitting on that roof top so majestically. The river otter would have been a great shot too!

Beautiful photos.
Indian Mills Brook feeds into what is now called Shadow Lake--we called it Zimmie's Lake in the early 70's. Just off of Stokes Rd and Jackson Rd. There was a huge beaver dam there that has long been replaced by an earthen berm. We encountered river otters upstream--what a beautiful sight! Also upstream on Willow Grove Lake. So many gems like this in SJ. David
