Intersection of QBR and Devious Mt road?

I know this is probably a stupid question that has been answered a hundred times but I cannot for the life of me find it in the search feature. I am planning on taking the wife up to Gemima Mt for a little hiking in the spring and maybe see if we can find Devious Mt, and while driving the roads today just getting ideas it occurred to me I have no idea what was at this intersection but it seems to be a clearing with an old cellar pit or two. Was there a little town here at one time or was this just part of Batsto at one time?

Thanks Rednek, makes sense that is the location of Mount. As an aside, do you or anyone know of any maps available online that show these old towns? I have been hunting South Jersey for years and am starting to wonder just how much history I am driving by all the time.

This website has the best one stop shopping for historic maps of the pines that you will ever find.
Look at the top of this page and start wading through the collections under the cleverly titled tab, Historic Maps.

In addition, be sure and try all of the tools under the NJPB maps tab as well.

Devious can easily be reached by vehicle, safer with 4WD. The conditions are always changine with puddles, ruts sand and wash outs.It is close to many main roads, Tuckerton Rd, Push Line Rd and Mines Spung Rd. The white hiking trail goes over the summit.

I will use 3 maps to properly place Devious for you. No individual map is adequate.

The same in 1995 aerial. Here you can see another road that goes right past the summit. This road is easily passable from the south in my TJ, but NOT from the north!

The white trail crosses Tuckerton, Mines Spung and Push Line Roads.
There is a multi-stage Geocache out there that starts on the white Trail and the final on the summit, if you are into that. My geocache name is TheBiscuitMan.

If I were to go there today I would either come up Quaker Bridge Lower Forge road and pick up Push Line. Tuckerton Rd from High Crossing south is aweful.

Jemima Mount is a different story, the roads being much more treacherous, but you can get close and hike in from many directions. I oun a geocache there. BTW we usually spend a couple of days a week out in that area hiking. Don't neglect Mannis Duck Pond.

Wow thanks guys! Awesome info. Rednek I will spend a little more time utilizing the tools the site offers before asking so many questions :)

Ed, that is great info thanks, I should be able to get there or close in my JK.
