I poked my head into the Manchester WMA fire area to see if it's worth botanizing after the fire with my friend Mark. This was a hot fire (see cedars below). I think the answer is only a maybe. There are very few roads in here, and getting into the stream area requires a committment of time and energy. I saw the usual after-fire pioneers (like the yellow-leaved trees coming up), but timing may be a bit off. Maybe the following year. The fire was not that huge. Although I could not drive everywhere, it' would mosly fit in the circled area (I'm guessing about the southern part, but I don't see it on Beckerville Road.

That was a hot fire. Especially when you consider it burnt overnight when fire conditions are usually much lower. The FFS did an amazing job of containing it overnight. It could have been much worse
