PART TIME ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AT THE COOPER ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER
CATTUS ISLAND COUNTY PARK

The applicant must live in Ocean County, New Jersey. The starting
hourly wage is $7.25 plus enrollment in the pension program. The
Cooper Environmental Center is a county operated natural science
education center located on 530 acres of natural land in Toms River,
New Jersey. The center's primary focus is estuarine ecology, since 70%
of the park property is tidal salt marsh and over 3 miles of the
coastline lies on Barnegat Bay. The Center houses more than 20 native
Ocean County reptiles as well as a freshwater and a saltwater
aquarium. The animal husbandry assistant position would work three
days each week assisting the chief of animal husbandry in the care and
feeding of all housed specimens. Additional responsibilities would
include presenting interpretive programs and supervising youth
volunteers. The candidate should possess:

- Experience working with fish and/or reptiles

- Experience working with children

- Strong organizational skills

- Interpretive ability

- Weekend availability
