DEP determined to resolve pinelands access disputes

Just read this a minute ago. People are encouraged to voice their views on this to the DEP. Fortunately the senator and her team are paying attention to this and have made a good argument.

How New Jersey Plans to Relocate Flooded ‘Ghost Forests’ Inland

Definitely an uptick in mortality in Wharton. The ones I’ve seen this fall on the Batsto are smaller, not fawns but maybe a year old? 3 on the banks, 2 in the water. Saw the same situation on the south branch of the Rancocas Creek last fall, but full grown deer, even a large buck. Recently...

Glad we were able to access these areas and see how they have recovered so beautifully.

DEP ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING TO LAUNCH WHARTON STATE FOREST VISITOR AND VEHICLE USE SURVEY

Lots of deadfall piled up at mm1 beach on the Mullica river. To my knowledge no one had driven on that beach in a very long time. At least the turn in wasn’t blocked again.

DEP ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING TO LAUNCH WHARTON STATE FOREST VISITOR AND VEHICLE USE SURVEY

I’m not sure what sites are being remediated in these areas. I’ve been in those trails recently at “whispering Pines. Nice trails, not sure what damage they are referring to, guess I didn’t get back into those areas (not the time of year to go off trail). I agree, the stone is quite unpleasant...

DEP determined to resolve pinelands access disputes

I’m my opinion I’d like to bring back actual park rangers who know and care about the pines and enforce current laws. Enforcement is at the root of the the problem here. We only have about 25 conservation officers in the entire state.

DEP ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETING TO LAUNCH WHARTON STATE FOREST VISITOR AND VEHICLE USE SURVEY

There’s been a tremendous amount of work being done on roads going through Wharton. I had assumed it was because of the fire, the forest fire service was making sure the roads were passable to better access and monitor areas. However I had suspicions that they were making more parking area out...

Getting into the Pygmy Pines near Warren Grove Range

Didn't find any pine snakes, or signs of them when I returned to guide a group. I agree the habitat may encourage prey animals. Was happy to have an answer to the questions that were asked regarding the slash. Had to laugh when shortly into the exploration and sharing an explaination for the...

Getting into the Pygmy Pines near Warren Grove Range

Thanks for finding an answer! I wonder if it has successfully enhanced the habitat for pine snakes? It's interesting how the pitch pines are now growing in a border around the areas. Much appreciated!

    I have no words.

Can try to depending on when they happen. Had a few dumpsites local to me but couldn't touch them as they had been "under investigation". Contacted the CO for updates and in coclusion was told the NJBLM was going to clean up the sites but the garbage remains. The dumping continues.
