Still Trying To Solve Issues With My Car One Year Later

Thanks for the feedback. My Tacoma came with Hankook tires. I got 70,000 miles out of them, so I replaced them with the same tire. Not sure if the quality has slipped, but the Hankook’s I have on the truck currently are looking pretty worn at 49k, so I’m going to go with something different this...

Still Trying To Solve Issues With My Car One Year Later

I’m going to guess $838 + tax? Just kidding, I read your post. :) I’m going to replace the tires on my Tacoma this summer or fall. I’m looking at Michelin Defender. Looks like Costco has the best out the door price at around $1,050.

Still Trying To Solve Issues With My Car One Year Later

Car repairs have gone up quite a bit since I started driving. I can remember replacing all four tires for less than $200. You can’t even buy one decent tire for $200 today. I just had my shocks and struts replaced, and the pump for my windshield washer fluid. $2,500.

Big Fire Near The Boot Camp

There was a sign up saying the Batona Trail near Carranza was closed, so I accessed the area about a mile west of there on dirt roads that were not closed.

Big Fire Near The Boot Camp

I hiked through the area of the fire on Monday. Lots of smoke still billowing up from the ground, so I only explored about three miles of the fire because the smoke was making it a little difficult to breathe. I ran into a fireman on a dirt road who was on his way to see if his deer stand...

No more “Fill it up” at Wawa if you pay cash

I have had that happen to me a few times. It’s embarrassing because as I’m telling the cashier I don’t know why my card was declined since I pay my balance in full every month, I know the people in line behind me are thinking, “Yeah, right, loser. Try paying your bills on time and your card...

No more “Fill it up” at Wawa if you pay cash

Costco, BJ’s and Sam’s Club all have cheaper gas. The problem is, the lines are always so long your savings gets eaten up in the gas you burn waiting your turn in line. Plus, for me, I just don’t have the patience to wait in line. If gas was $2.00 a gallon with a 15 minute wait, or $3.00 a...

No more “Fill it up” at Wawa if you pay cash

In case anybody is wondering why WaWa enacted this policy, this is what a reliable source in the company told me. Wawa was starting to have a problem with cash customers driving away before they paid for their gas. Worse, some were speeding off with the gas nozzle still in the tank, ripping it...

Turkey smash burger with gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce? I got hungry just reading that.

    On my last leg

250 hikes? I don’t know, I’m getting old. LOL One of the things I have done is keep a hiking journal. Before I set out on a hike, I log the date, the route, mileage, weather, and comment on what’s going on in my life, both good and bed. It’s nice to be able to go back and read my thoughts on...

    Sad Boyz

Thoughts, if you’ve eaten there? I love their double smash burger with everything on it. I think it blows away Five Guys and without question any fast food restaurant burger. The place is always crowded when I go there on a Saturday. It’s apparently run by brothers who have carved themselves...

    On my last leg

Nice report! I set out to hike the entire Appalachian trail when I was 42. Three weeks in I got Lyme disease and had to abandon my hike. I found the Batona Trail by accident when I took a wrong turn driving home from a neurologist appointment in Cherry Hill. About six months later, when I...

I’m actually not a big fan of roadside memorials either. A man was killed on a motorcycle on the bridge leading into the island where I live. He was going so fast when he slammed into the concrete barrier on the shoulder it severed one of his legs, which was the only part of him left on the...

Fire in Greenwood Forest Ocean County Near Jones Road

I used Dawn Platinum Powerwash. It comes in a spray bottle about the same size as Windex. I sprayed it on the black soot stains and let it soak in for 15 minutes. Then I sprayed more Dawn on the stains and started scrubbing it with a nylon brush. Rinsed it several times with a wet sponge, then...

    CJRR milepost 90

Good find. Boy, that is a really cold law. I can’t imagine any police officer doing more than issuing a warning to a grieving person setting up what the state considers an illegal roadside memorial.
