    Mystery UFO drone crash landed???

The FBI, Homeland Security and probably a half dozen other alphabet agencies either don’t know where these drones are coming from or won’t say where they’re coming from, but if one of them flies through a toll booth the state of NJ will move heaven and earth to locate their home base so they...

Evidence of Wild Pigs in The NJ Pine Barrens

I saw this hiking on Wednesday near Ongs Hat. Really hate it when people trash our natural areas. It’s selfish and it’s lazy. Most dumps would only charge $5-$10 to take that trash.

    97th Carranza Memorial Service

One thing I will never forget about the Carranza Memorial occurred about 20 years ago when I was hiking through that area and saw what was probably more than $50 in coins just laying all over it. I assumed the money was left as part of some kind of ritual. I also assumed it wouldn’t be long...

River Otter sighting on the Wadding River

This past Saturday I had three otters swim right up to my kayak while I was fishing Lake Audrey in Mauricetown, NJ. Here is a screenshot of a 40 second video I shot. They made this loud huffing noise every time they broke the surface of the water.

    NJ blueberries 2024

Couldn’t agree more about supporting small farmers. There is a small organic family farm close to where I live run by a young couple. Every week they deliver a fresh box of organic vegetables and fruits right to my front door for $40. I am thrilled to get super fresh organic vegetables brought...

    NJ blueberries 2024

I bought them from early-middle of June to middle of July. If you can point me towards a good source I’d be happy to try them next year.

    NJ blueberries 2024

Did anybody else notice that the blueberries in NJ were mostly sour this year? I tried blueberries from six different farms in the Hammonton area. One was okay, two were passable, and three were terribly sour. I have noticed that the sweetness of local blueberries has steadily declined over...

    Fishing help

NJ is actually quite reasonable at $22.50 for a fishing license. 64-69 years old it’s $12.50. Above 70 you don’t need a license. I paid $49 last month for a 15 day Maine fishing license. I have a three day fishing trip in PA planned for September. Not only do I have to buy a fishing license, I...

    Fishing help

I have hiked over 10k miles in the pines and I have had some unpleasant encounters with what I’m fairly certain were chiggers. A quick Google search will confirm the NJ Pine Barrens is within their range. It’s been my observation and unpleasant experience that the worst month for chiggers, or...

    Lock Your Vehicles

I would definitely resist that temptation. They could arrest me for making terroristic threats. I have a GPS tracker on my e-bike. I would hate to think that if it was stolen and I went to the police and showed them its location they would tell me they can’t help me.

    Lock Your Vehicles

when the police refused to help I would have been tempted to tell them, “You can recover my car or you can recover the bodies.”

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I will probably need to bring my rain gear and a lightning rod to Saturday’s fishing tournament.

    Fishing help

Thanks. Yes, the magnets hold pliers, scissors and hooks. The small piece of black plastic above the yellow lure tray has magnets also for holding lures, scissors and small pliers. I like keeping everything right in front of me for easy access when I fish out of a kayak.

Got a nice largemouth bass today. Didn’t have a scale with me, but I would estimate it was between 5-6 pounds.

    Missing Woman

Sad situation. I have spent a lot of time in the outdoors. It’s important that you know in advance what you’re going to do in the event of an emergency. You won’t make good decisions under stress. Case in point. I was hiking/mountain climbing in Baxter State Park in Maine in an area I was not...

Crackdown On Off-Roading This Weekend In Lacey/Waretown Area

I saw a woman on an ATV at Ongs Hat flying down a dirt road at a high rate of speed. She had a small boy probably around five years old bouncing up and down on her lap as she careened over the pot holes. Neither were wearing helmets. I shook my head in disbelief that a parent could be that...

    Jersey Devil Bobblehead

I was able to reach somebody on the phone yesterday and he told me they were shipping the Jersey Devil Bobbleheads in May. He kept screaming at his computer for being slow. When he put me on hold I could hear him singing with a song playing in the background. Doesn’t seem like a real...

    Jersey Devil Bobblehead

Good thing I put this Jersey Devil bobble head order on my calendar, or I would have totally forgotten about it. Haven’t received it yet and it was supposed to ship in April.
