    Pgymy Pines Hike

Thanks everyone for your help. We did the hike today and everyone had a great time. There was no air show to watch but the pygmy pines did not disappoint. I did get us off track for a little bit but it only added another mile or so to the hike -- so it wasn't a big deal. But at one point, due...

    Pgymy Pines Hike

Thanks for the picture. I also looked at some of the other photos that you have. They are wonderful -- especially love the "then and now" series. Also very excited to find out that the structure near Oswego River in Marth was a cranberry pumping station. Never knew that -- a few of us were...

    Pgymy Pines Hike

Thanks everyone for the maps and suggestions. I'm planning on going in on Bombing Range Road and parking in that paved parking area near the end of that road -- before the military checkpoint. Then I thought I would start the hike by the pond that Teegate mentioned, heading north on Log Ln...

    Pgymy Pines Hike

I'd love to see an airshow -- as long as they don't bomb us! :)

    Pgymy Pines Hike

Love the photo -- that's what everyone in my hiking group is hoping to experience! So hopefully the area by the bombing range won't disappoint. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

    Pgymy Pines Hike

Thanks for the map -- I like the idea of walking near some water. So I'll definitely check that spot out!

    Pgymy Pines Hike

Can anyone suggest a place to hike where the pgymy pine trees are truly short? I would like to take a group of about 20 hikers on a 5 mile hike somewhere in the pines where they can actually see some pgymy pines. In the past, I took them behind the airfield on Rt 70 -- but the trees there...

    Hiking in Pygmy Pines?

Hi again We had a really nice hike behind Coyle Field. We got above the tree line a couple of times and had some great views! I'm glad you suggested that area instead of the area by the bombing range. It was great fun. We did find the wall -- with all your help. Thank you! No one...

    Hiking in Pygmy Pines?

What a great picture! I'm not sure about climbing it though -- everyone in this hiking group is in their 60s. Although I have one die hard marine who is always pushing me to make my hikes 10 miles long instead of 5 miles. He might be up for the challenge! I'll let you know.

    Hiking in Pygmy Pines?

OK -- If that's the way you want to be. :) My hiking group is going to be tackling the area on Monday morning. We got permission to come in through Coyle Field and park there. (It only took three phone calls to get somebody to say it was OK. They apparently are taking this homeland...

    Hiking in Pygmy Pines?

I spent two hours yesterday driving through the area behind Coyle Field trying to find this mystery object without any success. All I have for my efforts are more scratches on my jeep...... ;) I came in from Red Road, Baptist Road, and Long Causeway Road. I didn't want to try and come in from...
