Has anybody gone to Holly Hills Golf Course?

Nice! I just went there yesterday. Brought my bike and was cruising around. Not the best place to bike, but I managed.

Has anybody gone to Holly Hills Golf Course?

I know it shut down a little while ago, and the state took it over to grow back into native habitat. Now that the temperatures have dropped I have been going out there since its so close to home. I don't go on weekends because there tends to be hunters (public land), but during the week my dog...

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

Beautiful! I love gundogs! I would love to get him into field trials, but there isn't anywhere near me to take him for training...His offspring mostly go out west to gamebird hunters! So, he is just my hiking bud.

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

We have started going out to the pines with no issues with ticks or chiggers...We just did a 4.5 hour hike followed by the batsto country living fair last week and did not have any issues, surprisingly!

    Spotlight Article on Off-Roading

YAS! I cannot stand seeing offroad vehicles tear up such a beautiful place, makes me sick.

    Chigged!

I live on the outskirts of the pines and my dog and I go for a 4 mile walk every morning on the road during tick season and I still manage to pull tons off of him. Why do ticks seem to thrive so much in the pines? When I go hiking in Delaware, the ticks really aren't all that bad.

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

I am counting down the days until cold weather and NO TICKS! I am biting at the bit. My dog and I cannot get enough of the pines. Last year, we did a 6 mile hike in the snow and not a single person had stepped foot in the snow we were the first ones out there!! I bought a Subaru a few months...

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

My dog is entirely offleash. I have put extensive work into his training. He knows when he sees other people or dogs to come back to me. If we are walking along a road (Then I do put a leash on), he knows to get into the grass when there are cars coming...Heck, he even got 3d place at our...

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

Nice, I worked as a park naturalist for 3 years and cant get enough of the outdoors. During the summer I'm usually out at Delaware state parks - far fewer ticks for some reason. That is what I love so much about the pines is the isolation - who would have ever guessed that something like the...

Who else goes hiking with their dog?

As soon as late fall hits, my dog and I are out there constantly. Fortunately, we have never come across any trouble especially since I hike alone most of the time (with my dog of course). My parents get ticked at me for doing that, but honestly I feel much safer out in the woods than I ever...

And you thought ticks were bad

I took my dog out hiking for about 12 miles on memorial day (the place was empty!) at batsto and there were at least 200 ticks on him...I adore the pine barrens, but I guess it is just a late fall and winter place for me since I wont go hiking without my dog.

    Penn Branch Mountain Bike Trail

There is also a 6 mile bike loop. I have hiked it a few times, and plan on having my dog follow me this winter when it cools down for him.
