Have any entomologists confirmed the presence of these guys in any of the states? I know that we have cicada killers and European giant hornets here, and I cannot help but to wonder if there has been misidentifications of either for the Asian hornet?

I took my dog out hiking for about 12 miles on memorial day (the place was empty!) at batsto and there were at least 200 ticks on him...I adore the pine barrens, but I guess it is just a late fall and winter place for me since I wont go hiking without my dog.
