Thanks George- we were also on a hunt for a "secret grove" of wood ducks which reside nearby. She is very excited to quietly find and photograph them. I've never seen one up close and personal so hopefully we find them.

I've been using this to see who owns the property that I decide to venture within. It's a pretty decent visual map with Satellite view and land boundaries. Especially good for the visual types: Search by: Address Owners Name Neighborhood etc. http://njparcels.com/nearby/

Looked like a promising location

I've been around the Chicken Bone ridge that you see on some old maps, but I've been looking for evidence of the existence of the Black Hamlet

Lots of old oil cans here, when you needed to punch a hole in each side of the top of the can. Most have faded print but a few are still legible

Went out to prospect a potential "Chicken Bone" area and found some various building debris, old bottles, and some vehicles

The state was going to tear it down but The gun club worked out a deal - they fixed it up and maintain it and are allowed to use the land. There was some squatting in there and some junkies were using it as well

I see these everywhere. I'm going to grab some tomorrow while I'm out riding the pines and try some out.

Look where I was today

It's been going down for years in certain areas. There is more section 8 for sure. The big concern in Barnegat now is the mass exodus of Hasidic Jews buying large amounts of homes in certain areas of Barnegat.

I've done a lot of trail running in the pines with my Jack Russell. She's done an 11 mi run with us before no problem. I will usually try out an area a few times to make sure nobody is around before taking her off the leash. She listens well and never gets too far ahead. Our other dog us a hound...
