    Raised trail?

I don't know what it is, but it isn't something solid like a tree or a pipe. Looks like maybe an artifact where the camera made a "stripe" of the image darker. Maybe it was caused by an object in the foreground - like a branch - that is completely blurred to the point of being invisible?

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Could be almost any morning in my yard (but there's no corn and the cat is orange and white) :D I think it has a lot to do with where you go, although it's possible that there was some kind of program to improve their numbers after your time in the Pines. I didn't see them very often myself...

    Raised trail?

Guy, that is the tax PIN (Parcel Identification Number) for the parcel containing the trail. 1506_212_1.01 15 = County Code 06 = Tax District Code 22 = Block Number 1.01 = Lot Number You'll find more than you probably want to know about their system here There are no online records for that...

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Flocks of wild turkeys enjoy vandalizing my property, they go down my little trails, dig up all the dead leaves from both sides of the trail and dump them in the middle. Basically, they bury the trail by heaping piles of dead leaves on it. They can do this to hundreds of feet of trails in one...

New iPhone may also be a satellite communicator

Apparently that's not gonna happen... Qualcomm is ending its Snapdragon Satellite partnership with satellite phone maker Iridium. Although the pair "successfully developed and demonstrated the technology" smartphone makers "have not included the technology in their devices," Iridium said in a...

    Raised trail?

Yes, the elevation at the crosshairs should show at the top left of the screen as you move the mouse around. But the raised trail isn't flat, it slopes up to a "peak" of about 70 feet around here https://boydsmaps.com/#18.00/39.910566/-74.278710/midatlidar/0.00/0.00 It's about 64 feet at the...

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Well, I've got lots of wild turkeys roaming my property. Still have plenty of ticks though. I think I read that geese also eat ticks?

Parker Preserve (water, water not quite everywhere)

Tryiing to remember.... wasn't one of their goals to get rid of the bogs/lakes and try to restore the streams that used to flow through there before it was developed for agriculture?

    Medford in the Times

Thanks - that works! Apparently gift articles expire after 30 days, so the trick I posted above might help somebody who comes across this thread in the future. :)

    Medford in the Times

Not a bad article. I lived in Medford and Medford Lakes for years and have lots of fond memories. Happy to be away from all the development and traffic now though. This part is really crazy, but I suppose dropping $615,000 is no big deal for some people? "So enthusiastic were the Cookises about...

    Raised trail?

That might be the sort of smaller feature you could LIDAR scan with a phone if you have a newer one with that capability. For example, look at the second link in my old thread here. Looks like this is only available on the following iPhone models for now, don't think there are any Android...

Halloween at Maurice River Bluffs Preserve

I learned to type on old, manual office typewriters in 7th grade (?) around 1962. The keys were all covered with blank aluminum caps so you couldn't peek at the letters when typing. But there was a big keyboard chart on the wall you could check if you got really confused! It was sort of a...

    Foggy Morning

Another foggy one, but not as heavy as Monday. This was Mays Landing around 6:30 AM. It was heavier near waterbodies, this is Route 50 South at Stephen Lake, around 7:00 AM

Halloween at Maurice River Bluffs Preserve

There are a number of Pettino's in the NJDEP extractive mining dataset https://www.nj.gov/dep/njgs/geodata/dgs05-1.htm Here's an excerpt from the data I have used in my own maps You will find these on my 2020 topo, but you have to zoom to level 17 to see the names, here's one for example...

    Foggy Morning

Taken at about 8 AM in the Peaslee WMA, temperature holding steady at the overnight low of 60 degrees (going up to around 80 later today). Back on the paved roads, it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the jackasses who don't think you need to slow down when visibility is less than 100 ft. ;)

    Pinelands Fishing sites recommendations.

I don't fish, but I live near Maple Lake and frequently see fishermen there, in small boats. No idea what they're fishing for, but it seems popular. https://boydsmaps.com/#17.00/39.407798/-74.777895/pines2020/0.00/0.00 Of course, there are also spots where I usually see people fishing from...

Fall color from my big back yard

I think we probably hit peak fall color a few days ago around here, but it's still quite scenic. Shot these on my property this morning with an iPhone 12 Pro Max
