    Stuff I've found.

Jelly Balls! Sandcast, As I previously mentioned, a friend of mine looked into these jelly ball things in Batsto Lake and obtained this information from Stockton: Fresh water Bryozoans - specifically Pectinatella magnifica. Often referred to as Moss Animals they are an ancient member of...

    Stuff I've found.

A couple years ago a friend of mine found the jelly like substance in the water near Batsto also. I can't recall what her findings were. When I look it up in my notes, I'll let you know unless someone else tags it first.

A Fine Time For Fine Wine

Oh Ed.... If you are considering white peaches from Glossy Fruit again you should definately think about it this year (if they still have any!) The white peaches were like heavenly honey this year. I canned up about 20 qts to savor during winter snow storms :) I think we ate about 2 cases...

    Blending in

Not to upset any bird lovers....but a few years ago my friend asked why the preying mantis would always be perched on her screen next to the hummingbird feeder. This was her answer a few days later. I quickly made sure that my hummer feeders were elevated way above the hedges in the garden...

    Camping In Wharton?

Come into the Batsto or Atsion office, Sunday thru Thursday. Ask the people working where the fewest campers are. They are more than happy to tell you. There will almost never be "another person" on a weekend. There is never an absolute guarantee even on weekdays either......sorry turtle

    Rhino liner

Ed, I had a rhino liner in my old pick up for 11 years and really liked it. I only had one chip on the tailgate as a result of not being careful as we unloaded a stump grinder. I gave my truck a pretty good work out and used it as a "work" truck. Otherwise it served me well and I would get...

Revisiting The Marble Spung And Other Locations

Wonderful trip!..... albeit the rattlesnake encounter :( I was once walking with my dog and saw her do the same dance, not realizing that she had come upon a Northen Water Snake.....and she was on a leash to boot. We saw the snake after her jump. She developed an infection from the undetected...
