    Bitten by Tick?

Thanks guys, Is it possible that I picked it up today and it fed to engorgement that fast, or is it likely that I picked it up a few days ago and missed it? Seems awfully fast for it to feed that much. My wife barely touched it with the tweezers and it fell right off. Thanks again for the...

    Bitten by Tick?

Hey folks, After a day of rompin around the pines, I came home and asked my wife to check me. I had a small bruise, almost like someone hit me with a wet towel, and in the middle, a tick that was partly to fully engorged. I've seen my share of ticks, but this one is very tiny. I reversed my...

    Pinks are up....

I visited Webbs Mill Bog some time ago, and would like to go again. Just one question-is it accessible from any other points beside parking a car right on 539? I'm always a little weary parking on that road.

    2012 Pinelands Short Course

I attended, my first time there. Loved it! I'm looking forward to going again next year. I attended the Black Bear talk, Turtles, Wilderness Survival, Earth Wind and Ice, and New Jersey's Biodiversity. I really enjoyed seeing you again Turtle and meeting Spung Man and Rayven. I feel fortunate to...

    Attention NJ Forest Fire Service

Hi GermanG, Thanks for your response. Hope you understand that I am still learning here, and that my questions aren't meant to be argumentative. I'm genuinely interested in discussing this to learn more about how the land is preserved. One or two things that I wanted to reply to/ask about...

    Attention NJ Forest Fire Service

This is something that I was wondering myself. I am by no means an expert on the ecology of the Pine Barrens, but the question posted by dragoncjo, and others similar to it, have crossed my mind several times while reading this thread. The UN designated the Pine Barrens as a globally...

PL Hiking Trails with Extensive Closed Canopy?

Manumuskin, thanks for that tip! Regarding that 736-acre cedar swamp, are there any of the marked trails that will keep us going through a large part of that area? I'm ashamed to say that I have not yet visited Lebanon SF!

PL Hiking Trails with Extensive Closed Canopy?

I love the smell of ozone after a thunderstorm as well. It's a heavy smell, not sweet or sour, but almost like a wet woody smell with some light muskiness thrown in.

PL Hiking Trails with Extensive Closed Canopy?

Thanks, everyone, for your help! Belleplain is a definite on our list. We were going to save it for the fall because of the reputation for bugs, ticks and spectacular fall colors, but maybe we'll have to get down there sooner. I'm guessing that Brendan Byrne isn't our best bet for shady areas...

PL Hiking Trails with Extensive Closed Canopy?

Hey Folks, My wife and I have been talking about our continued excursions as the summer approaches, and it brought me to consider that we'd probably be facing a lot of sun exposure as we hiked. I was wondering if anyone could recommend trails in the Pinelands that were predominantly cedar...

Best Hiking in Southern Ocean County?

Hey GermanG, No problem! Like I said in the other post, I really appreciate you taking the time to post that advisory. We had a great time, although, for some reason, I thought that they were burning a relatively small area. Imagine our surprise when we started hiking and we saw such a large...
