    Welcome to lidar.boydsmaps.com!

Your parents are impressive Boyd. That kind of equipment was very advanced stuff for that time period. I remember when I was Division Head of the inspection department, I purchased a coordinate axis (XYZ) measuring machine for the crew. Cost about $115K at that time (1989). The guys loved it.

Maybe screws hold it too tight. The wood has to swell when wet, like a barrel.

    Welcome to lidar.boydsmaps.com!

I learned blueprint reading and orthographic projection at Lakehurst before they even had us touch the cats and arresting gear. We had to draw our own from an actual item off the equipment. It was a revelation to me at the time. Later when I became a mechanical inspector it was crucial. More...

Information on Tuckertons own Garvey boats

Nice garvey video. I'd like to ask him why he used a hand saw on the planking for fitting when he had a circular saw next to him. I'm sure there's a good answer, just like to hear it. He'd probably say; that's what I started with, and I'm comfortable with it, and I like the feel and sound of it.

    Taunton Mansion

I did a week at Camp Lenape as a scout in 1967(?). Our scoutmaster was a builder, and he had us rebuild the dock the season before I camped. We had to swim a mile in the lake.

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

That's funny. My daughter was looking at a house right here 3 weeks ago, and I said she should not do it, that the kids would be up and down that powerline in ATV's. So she gave it up.

    Bass River Fire Tower proposal

It says it was part of the agreement. Yes, you are correct, that $17K was light for the work done. And then there's shipping etc. Let's put it this way: would you have agreed to cut 16 acres of heavy pines with rented equipment, gas, labor, insurance for $17K? I'd say hell no.

    Garden 2020

Mark, in reading your remark, I see where I misunderstood. The article says " Soil and silt, partly volcanic in origin, was blown by the winds off the glaciers". I erroneously read that as the soil and silt was coming off the glacier driven by wind. What they meant was the winds coming 'off' the...

I wore a mask when I went to BJ's, the liquor store, and drug store today. It makes sense. 85-90% of the people in BJ's were wearing one. It felt natural, while those without one seemed to be taking a risk.

Mark, I have a burning question. I don't want to take over your thread, delete this if you want. You mentioned the Great Sand Belt, so I started googling that and randomly ended up at a website mentioning the Palouse loess of Washington State. In the first paragraph, the author says that...

    Breaking self imposed NJPB quarantine...

"Talk is cheap. And it's not art." Why did you add that to the end Boyd, what do you mean by it? It doesn't seem to fit the rest of the paragraph. I'm just curious.

They didn't mention drug dealers but should have. They got a guy in the woods next to the power plant with 100 bags on him. That junk flows up and down the coast line. I was going to go to the Ocean County dump today. I replaced two toilets in the house and have some rotted lumber. I called...

Masks are now being recommended by some pundits regardless of your status. It makes sense. I do feel uneasy not knowing if the person close to me has it despite the absence of symptoms. And vice versa. Could be just a bandana.
