    Crowley's Landing boat ramp Closed!

What size boat and how much do you draw? Lower Bank is very bad at low tide, unless you have a shallow draft boat and you can pull the motor up and put of the water. I never used Crowley's because of the always questionable condition of the ramp and its location in the River which puts you...

    The NEW Beer Thread

I have been around a long time Ben and I never heard that expression. Perhaps you have a future in stand-up ! By the way, another bad dose of beer is Troeg's Dream Weaver. I strongly dislike wheats anyway and this is the wheatiest of wheats. My son got me a Troeg's sampler 12 pack and I saved...

    The NEW Beer Thread

Finally got a bad one. And I got hoodwinked by deceptive labeling to boot. O'Mission Lager. I have had Mission IPA before and it is outstanding. Last week I saw what I thought was a Mission Lager and bought a six pack down the shore. Upon trying it I was overcome by a feeling of blecch and...

Old backpacker Article on the Barrens

And sadly, they don't make stuff in America the way they used to. Many of those ads were for products made here. The Schrade LB 7 shown in one ad is my daily carry. The guarantee against loss was no bullshit either. I exercised it on a lost LB 3 back in the 80's. I bought a lot of Schrade...

    Dennisville

Dennis Township is a great and wild area Bob. The waterfowl hunting, crabbing and fishing, both salt and fresh, is killer death down there. As long as there is a breeze, the bugs are tolerable, even in the middle of summer. (In my opinion) We usually hit Dennis Creek with the jon when the ocean...

    NJ DOT Local Names List

Good old Pestletown made the list ! Now, if we could only figure out how it got its name. Jerseyman spent considerable time on that question a few years back and came up empty. That doesn't happen very often.

    Pine Barrens Diamonds, Digsite

I did some soils work on a privately owned site in Waterford back in the 80's that was loaded with old glass chunks just below the surface. A local old timer told me it was from a nearby glass factory explosion back in the day.

Found Beagle on Rte. 206 4-21-13

The saga has reached a happy closure after 6 weeks. The women took him for a heartworm test (negative), lymes test (positive) and had him neutered (Ouch!) He was not chipped. As of Friday, he was off to NY to a rescue that has list of people waiting to adopt beagles. I raise a glass to that...

    Field Recording of Singing Frogs

That is NOAA Weather radio, I have it on in the boat quite a bit. I believe that particular recording was a human voice. Most of the transmissions are now synthesized and they offer a male and female robot for your listening pleasure.
