    They're heere...

The scourge of all things mammalian have made their debut appearance for 2012 in P'town this morning. While running the dogs this morning along the bogs I was bitten three times by the one of the most irritating insects on the planet, the DEER FLY. It looks like the warm, muggy weather has...

    Snaaaake!

Well that's just a plain lack of preparedness Tom. I would think someone would have at least had an Army shovel or hatchet handy. :D

    A Piney 29th Anniversary

Thanks everyone. It really has been important to have common interests over all these years. She loves to fish the ocean, crab, clam and she loves the woods as much as I do. With the exception of hunting, if I am in the woods or on the water it's with her.

    A Piney 29th Anniversary

Today was my 29th wedding anniversary and true to form, I didn't spend a lot of money on a present. My wife and I were teenagers when we started dating in the late 1970's and I also started land surveying back then as a summer job in high school and later, in the summers during college...

    Its a Frog Slog!

I don't know if you have this or not but the Calls of NJ Frogs and Toads CD is excellent. You can order it along with the Field Guide to Amphibians and Reptiles for $19.95 here: http://www.conservewildlifenj.org/store/books/ The CD is temorarily out of stock, according to the website but you can...

    Its a Frog Slog!

I know you weren't planning on harming the frogs. I am just a d#ck that likes to stir the pot whenever the occassion presents itself. On a more serious note, if that's even possible for me, the link below will give you some of the hotspots for the PBTF. The study was performed by the Pinelands...

    Its a Frog Slog!

They were a classic dish at the Sweetwater German. If I remember correctly, they always threw one in with the surf and turf combo. My son wants to try gigging again this year when the season reopens on July 1.

    Bitten by Tick?

I am from the Boyd school of thought. Between my job, which keeps me in the woods and fields a few days per week, hunting most of the year, and my time in the woods after work every day, I am literally good for 5-10 ticks per week. I pick up ticks nearly all year and most of the ticks I find on...

    Volunteer Docents Needed(Atsion)

If they are looking for true pines people they might have to change "docent" to "tour guide".

    Hey! Look what I found

Great pics Jeff and and an interesting find on the axle. When I see something like that I like to think back to the last day that someone stood there and said, "To hell with it, let's get out of here."

    Moonshiners Show

It is a shame that they have to add the grain alcohol. I am a straight bourbon whiskey and cane juice rum man and the words "blended" are a bad thing when you have an appreciation for good high octane liquor. It looks like I'll have to try their unpolluted brandy.

    coffin and hay glassworks

No but a few of my friends' fathers worked there. It was a thriving industrial plant right up until Sherwin Williams pulled the plug around 1978. The remnant pollution in certain parts of town has resulted in the sleepy little hamlet hosting more than one federal Superfund site. Lucas owned...

    coffin and hay glassworks

Thanks for the link . I just found an amazingly detailed 1875 map of the Lucas Paint and Colorworks in Gibbsboro. I grew up there and remember when the factory was still cranking out paint and employing hundreds of people.
