    Last of the Pineys

If you get caught taking anything off of state land, you are in big trouble. I don't think the rangers would have any mercy on him or his plight. He proberly goes so far back in the woods, the chances of him being bothered are slim.

    Last of the Pineys

Yes, there are still pineys around gathering moss and cutting hog brush. I have lunch with them on occasion and talk about old times. Pineys usually do come to a sad end. My father worked 33 years on a cranberry farm with no pension, and barely received $600 a month SS. When he became ill and...

    Jersey Devil-real or unreal?

I remember hearing something yowling in the swamps of Friendship when I was only six. My father was about 35 years old at the time and born in 1933 (an estimate). He was so shook up! He said he had never heard anything like that in his whole life. Forty years later, I heard it once again at the...

    Question regarding "Calico"

I looked at Ben's map. Where it says Calico, is exactly where I was when I was shown the celler holes. There were no doors or sheets of metal there. That trash is proberly where Stu's photos were taken. I do not remember any puddles though.

    Jersey Devil-real or unreal?

You cannot kill what is already dead. It is very hard to photograph the supernatural, and that is what the Jersey devil is. Depends on what one believes. Do you believe in life after death? Angels and spirits? How about vistors from outer space?

    Question regarding "Calico"

Well, I once visited an area between Nash's Cabin and Martha, and was told it was Calico. The person I was with was very knowlegable of the area, and seeing the foundations and celler holes with my own eyes...do believe it to be Calico. Those photos you took Stu, are definately not Calico.

    Sad Hanover News.

Hanover's impacts? I found Hanover quite by accident yesterday, and was confused by the signs posted there. Perhaps someone can explain....anyone removing anything will be prosecuted due to the historical natural (the digging). OK, but since the area was poorly fenced off, does that mean it is...

    Some photo's from the 70's

Hey Guy, guess what! I dug up some great info on those trucks of yours... Those are pulp wood trucks. Apparently, those trucks were quite common in the pines. The town folk used them to run all over the woods and cut pulp (pine) wood, take it to the road and stack it. Once they accumulated...

A Snapping Turtle and a Spotted Turtle

I would have loved to seen that snapper! Of course it was well fed, and all the protection...all it had to do was lay around and get fat. Snappers in the wild don't stand a chance like that.

A Snapping Turtle and a Spotted Turtle

The snapper in the picture looks old, thus having claws that long. It looks like he/she has one eye as well. As for the snapper season, I heard from October till the season ends on Jan 1, the snappers are hibernating, thus buried in the mud. It doesn't make sense to me to even have a season...
