Got there around 1:30 this afternoon and it was raining fairly steady. All the dirt roads on the site were pretty muddy. Saw a lot of long faces on the vendors. A few were already packing it in and some that I spoke to said if the weather was the same tomorrow, they wouldn't be back on Sunday...

Disappointing. We had a caravan of about 12 people (mostly children) going this year. It's a yearly event we all look forward to attending. I think I'm going to swing over there today anyway. I'll report back and let everybody know how many vendors and people are there this year.

I kinda feel the same way. I mean, I'll admit that I'm not the most handsome man in the world, but nobody has ever mistaken me for a deer. Now if they had a wolf season out there I'd be a little more worried.:mrgreen:

I concur on the chiggers. If you can hold off for just a few more weeks and wait until after we get a hard freeze, the chiggers will be gone. I'm on the Batona Trail 30-40 times a year. Excluding deer week in December, I really don't see all that many hunters out there. I only wear an orange...

Hey, thanks for posting this! I want to go to this event and had totally forgotten it was being held this Saturday. I purchased some native plants at the PPA event held in the spring and the flowers all did great. Now all my neighbors want to plant them in their gardens.

Hi AoCnG, I hike the Batona Trail end to end about 8 times a year. Everybody has a different tolerance level for exposing themselves to ticks and chiggers. I have had Lyme Disease and I have also been covered from the waist down with chigger bites a few times, so my tolerance is pretty low...
