    This is it..

Tom, I'm sure she'll say yes where ever you ask her. Also consider Friendship or the Forked River Mountain. Very nice places. Of course you may also want to consider a romantic candle lit dinner as well. Steve

Bush Prepares for Possible GPS Shutdown

I hope we'll get a warning. I guess I better buy a compass just in case. Steve

It is the road from Friendship to Hawkin's Bridge. That scene is right on the side of the road but you have to look for it. Steve

Yes. When I first posted that picture on Ben's old site I could not remember where it was. I have been back there several times since then though. Steve

I was amazed at how fast you guys were able to come up with favorites. It took me all this time and I still can't say that these are my ultimate favorites. I really like this shot of the Harrisville ruins. Could you imagine hiking through the Pines and coming up on this? This spot...

Couple lost in woods; baby nearly delivered

Ok, there are a lot of dirt roads in the Pines but how could anybody possibly get lost for 5 hours?!

    Topo Maps

Yeah but a 150% markup is out of line and that is assuming that $4.00 is the wholesale cost. I'm guessing that the cost is probably $3.00 and the rangers are marking up 33% which is reasonable. If the wholesale cost is $3.00 then Franklin is marking up 233% YIKES!!! Steve

    Topo Maps

I was paying $10.00 a quad at Franklin Maps. They were $4.00 at Atsion when I bought one there last year. Franklin is still a good place for hard to find maps but I always feel I pay too much. Steve

    Topo Maps

Go to the Atsion ranger station and they have them. It won't be a map of all of Wharton. You may need to buy a couple of quads to get all of Wharton. Steve

    Symbols painted on the roads

In offset printing they use an + to help line up the different color layers. They are called registration marks. Pehaps the marks on the road are used to line up aerial photos to make the larger composit picture.
