ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Unless you know the woods real well it's easy to turn onto a closed road that's not posted... I don't see how the I was alone and lost excuse won't hold up in court...

    What is this place?

Hmmm, open fields, surrounded by dikes... limited road access... existing cabin structure... I might have to explore here just to include it in my zombie apocalypse plan!

    What is this place?

Nice thanks! When are the hunting seasons where those fields are stocked and utilized so I can avoid it? I'm hesitant to explore the area because the signs at all the blocked entrances all say "DEP official use only". I'm not a hiker, but the area appears to have lots of well maintained...

Auermuller and the Future of Access Closures

The 500 miles of sand roads comes from Wikipedia, and numerous other sites that state that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wharton_State_Forest the 225 approved motoring miles comes right off the press release http://www.nj.gov/dep/newsrel/2015/15_0065.htm it's important to highlight they are...

Auermuller and the Future of Access Closures

Make sure you mention the facts like how Wharton state forest has gone from over 500 miles of roads, to 225 miles of "Approved" Roads and the maximum speed on all Approved roads is now 20mph compared to the recommended speed limits of the past (I forget what they were)

    What is this place?

Thanks, I was thinking of using my mountain bike to see what was in there, Guess I don't have to now! With the road closures in Wharton I've spent more time north of 72 this summer alone than I have in the last decade.

    What is this place?

I've been wondering for a long time what's in there, it's posted official use only and in one of the WMA's north of 72. The ungated access roads to the west is blocked off by burms with trees growing out of them so they've been there a while. Anyone know...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Just about every turn off is there and no overgrown because it goes somewhere scenic, or somewhere where there used to be something, such as locks bridge which is BOTH. Stupid stupid stupid to let nature further erase places like that from existence. Words cannot express how upset this makes a...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

And when the closed off roads, trails and open areas become overgrown and swallowed by the Forrest from disuse in a few short years, more historic locations will become list and forgotten to the next generation. Sad they are being so short sighted and ignorant. Pretty soon the main roads will...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Your Forest Under Attack: Road Closures in Wharton State Forest

I was able to get a loop through the woods in after work today. Seems to me they've specifically started by closing roads and vehicular access points to water, and many of launch points used by locals with canoes and kayaks who prefer to avoid the crowds at Quaker bridge on the weekend...
