    I don't think the ticketing of atvs has anything to do with damage to property or the environment, or noise, or any of the usual stated reasons. I think it's about collecting revenue.

    I have no comment at this time.

    I don't ride an ATV but it I think if the state promised a place to ride, then they should keep their promise. I have a sneaking suspicion this is more about generating revenue then protecting nature.

    Dragoncjo, no one is saying it has to have been born in the wild, it could have been an exotic pet that grew too large and was released. There was a tiger shot a few years ago in Jackson, Ocean County, so a cougar in NJ is not inconcievable. :jd:

    I saw a pile of large animal bones like that in the Pines, in or around Lebanon State Forest. Horse bones? Cattle bones? I can't remember exactly where they were. :jd:

    helmetta pond

    I know that pond, I used to live up there. There are some nice woods near the pond, if I remember correctly they are preserved by the county as open space. I'm not sure if I would call it part of the pine barrens, it's pretty far north. The swampy area does look like a cedar swamp in the pines...
