    Pine Barrens Caretakers Meeting Date???

Some vernal pools exist on various roads. Many of these pools are breeding pools and contain various eggs - tadpoles etc. Some should possibly not be driven through between march and September. The state will close most of the Pines one day to our travels. It is the way things go. We have...

    Pine Barrens Caretakers Meeting Date???

It would be good to all work together. I do all I can as many others with no support from government. I thought state should at least cart away what we pick up. I will work on that and see what I come up with. So far today I may at least have a commitment to have a truck so up to pick up what...

    Pine Barrens Caretakers Meeting Date???

Road closures can occur with the states help. There is a vernal pool group from NJ Wildlife. DEP can close some roads too if we show it is needed. Some roads need drainage too. I know DEP- WMA does what they need to help hunters access roads. I was thinking about doing this perhaps on the...

    Stafford Forge Target Range Clean-up

From the response I have received due to my complaints to the state about trash and illegal shooting is the answer would be to keep ALL people out of the pines. They have no money for staff or signs or barricades for certain areas, or patrols. I as many of you have bagged tons of trash. I...

    Stafford Forge Target Range Clean-up

The unofficial range off of Bombing Range road is being cleaned and I hope to replant the pines once the entry is barricaded. Seems to me the state has plenty of money from fishing and hunting license fees to clean the official and unofficial range without volunteers !

favorite spot to stargaze in the pines

I am not sure any are in the pines is really dark enough. Too much light from surrounding areas. I know from the east plains Atlantic City, glows to the south west, Stafford and Barnegate and Toms River & South East, East and north. Then in the distant west is Medford and Philly. I...

Opinion "...buy it ... don't steal it....."

Pinion from this link http://www.thehammontonnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090225/OPINION/902250330/1014/OPINION Preserving open space is important. That is why we have supported every bond referendum dedicated to the purchase of land for this purpose. Worthy goals often cost money...

    Aerial color question

On a closer look in birds eye it seems to be an area that was burned. Could be needles which turned brown from a burn and then fell to ground.

    Aerial color question

I don;t think it is natural. Interesting how it is maintained within the range boundaries. Could be from an infrared photo which was blended into a color image.
