    A double whammy

Oh, my taxes are done (refund) and spent...got back a little more than $5,500. I am a big proponent of paying extra in your federal taxes; even though it gives our illustrious government a free loan, I am pretty much guaranteed to get it back the following year. When it come to...

Pinelands panel puts new limit on homes

I have a question--how hard is it to deal with the Pinelands Commision when it comes to home addition/demolition/new home building? We have about 2 acres here in Belleplain and were told my the ladies at the tax office that we had to have Pinelands approval to add on to our existing house, to...

    I have a unrelated ?.......

LOL! Oh, the luck...don't know where they are now but I am not listed anywhere by my maiden name anymore. They were released from incarceration in the summer of 1997. Hopefully they've dropped off the face of the earth by their own hand... Heather in SJ

    I have a unrelated ?.......

Yeah, actually I do; my parents, my sister and I moved out to San Diego and where there less than 3 months when my dad was killed. They guys names are are James T. Johnson (17 at the time) and Roderick G. Cooper (19 at the time). Why worry when they are out in California, you ask? Well, I was...

    I have a unrelated ?.......

I could rant on about gun ownership but I won't...at least not now :) Oh, what the hell--I believe in gun ownership for law abiding citizens. Many years ago, my dad was murdered by two idiots who robbed and shot him on the pretense that they were legit cab fares. They got less than $5...and...

    "wolf" killed near Whiting

We've actually had quite a few sightings down this way, and you'd never guess where--Cape May. One was seen recently in Lower Township again, and someone has actually gotten pictures in the past year or two. I know it's not the pines, but if it interests you... Heather in SJ

    I Need your opinion

Seriously, it really may have been a hawk. We get them a lot out here in Belleplain, and turkey buzzards too--they are massive birds. Along with the deer, mice, snakes, ginea (sp?) hens, feral cats...and the occasional black bear that has been seen in the past year. Anyone for hunting...

    Jersey LIGHTNIN

LOL, not like this was the only thing on my mind but...I worked last year as a historical interpreter (early 19th century) and knew this recipe had to be in one of the old cookbooks or on one of the reenactment sites. Lo and behold, it twas! http://home.insightbb.com/~morganco.lr/drinks.htm...

    Your ideal Pinelands off-road rig?

LOL, hey now! I love a real truck, not the wussy SUV "mine is bigger than yours" things that 'other women' seem enamored with. I miss my Dodge Ram 1500 :( Not like it's made or can be done, but my dream truck is either a Dodge Ram Club Cab Cummings Turbo Diesel V-10 in black (yes, in stick...

Probably a little more involved than that...this is what I found :) Good luck and save me some (just to have since I don't drink)! I'll quote my sources just so there's no copyright issues :) If I make a 'faux pas', please feel free to let me know. No coyright here, just asked around to...

    Clark's Landing

Okay, I think I got what you are looking for... Apparently, Ruth was Thomas' second wife. His first wife, Hannah, was the mother of his four sons. She died about 1735. Her and Thomas had four sons--Thomas, David, Samuel and Elijah. I am telling you all of this because it turns out the...

    Hermann city and the Argo

I have both of Beck's 'Forgotten Towns' books...I also have the one by Ms. Schmidt and dammit if I can't remember the title of it! We bought it at her store in Chatsworth while getting lost going letterboxing. My Beck books are so dogeared and well loved, even my kids read them time and time...

    Letterboxing in the Pines...

I see you were at "Pasadena". That is one of my favorite places down the pines. It is sure a shame the amount of trash that is collecting there. :( --It is a shame, the requisite beer cans and grafitti kind ruin it... Sorry you couldn't find my letterbox at Friendship. It's there, we...
