A nice hike in the pines

Nice pix Mike. that would be the Skit Branch you were hiking along. Did you happen to get a close up of the masonry work in the background of this shot? I've never seen it. Did you get close enough to it to tell what it is? Steve

Some pictures in the Pine Barrens

Thanks for the pix. That Kestrel is a good find, don't see them too often. Cedar Waxwings are one of the most handsome birds IMHO. Steve

    Back On The Road Again

They just drop off at the bridge. But you're right, they should not block the road. They can use the parking area to wait while one trailer unloads.

Pine plains on 539 after the fire

I took a ride out to Rt539 today also. I turned down a short road on the east side a little before Boyd's spot. I think his cover is blown: A little down on the west side: This is the east side just across from where Boyd took his shots: Then on to the west side...

Pine plains on 539 after the fire

Nice shots. I did not stop for pictures on 539 because the angle of the sun was horrible when I was there. What was your vantage point for the second set of shots? Steve

    Hiking from river to river

There is a road that goes to Mullica camp. It starts on Quaker Bridge Rd almost exactly 2 miles from Atsion. There is a sign on a tree that says Mullica Camp. You can drive most of the way but will have to hike the rest. Just hike in with your water and stash it in the woods someplace. Steve

    Barrens of fire

A friend and I took a ride out to the fire scene this evening. We went down 72 to 539 and headed toward the parkway. We saw a lot of areas that looked like controlled burns. We came to one area of scrub pine that was burned very thoroughly though. We then turned down Stafford Forge Rd and saw...

    Decline in crows?

I've seen several crows but can't really say whether it more or less than last year. See a lot of robins. They seem to be doing ok. I've seen a few blue jays. You don't see many of them anyway. Steve
