All she lost: My sister's battle with Lyme disease

I never got the bulls eye rash. My first test was "borederline negative", but my doctor bagan treatment with Doxicycline anyway. My second test wes positive almost off the scale. If you're not getting satisfaction from your doctor see someonr else! You may have to get pushy, but it's your body!

    Redfin Pickerel Do Not Exist!!!

I think I may have "caught" a redfin twice, but as they are so small (these were about 4" long) when I set the hook they launched out of the water and went right over the canoe, landing about 20 feet on the other side. Before I could stop laughing and real in they had dropped the bait (very...

Thanks Jeff. As I said, the pick's cooperated and I fished until just abour sundown. It's a lake I don't fish often, but I've been there twice in the past 2 weeks and they were biting. I appreciate the well wishes, evaluation is this Friday at Jefferson.

    Harrisville Lake

Not to worry, my spirits are high. It's nothing life threatening, it's a painfull tumor, they're pretty sure it's benign, but it's in a difficult spot to remove. I may face an uncomfortable recovery period, and as winter is my hiking season I'm hoping recovery goes quickly. I missed last winter...

    Harrisville Lake

Can you give me directions? At this point I'll try just about anything :) . And I agree with the sentiments that the Pines are good medicine. I felt so much more at peace driving home. I have a CT scan Wednesday morning, I'll definitely go from the lab right to the pines tp clear my mind! Thank...

All she lost: My sister's battle with Lyme disease

When I had Lymes in the early 90's, my doctor treated it agressively with Doxycycline for about 4 months (July thru October). I've had no symptoms since. Find a doctor who will listen to you and treat you appropriately! Some will put it off as a "virus" and not properly treat it, you may need to...

    Harrisville Lake

Sorry to not have pictures, but my my camera remains broken and I need to buy a new one. Tuesday was 67 with a light breeze so I took the afternoon off as "mental health time", as some health issues may lay me up for a while soon. I put my canoe in at Harrisville Lake to fish and what a perfect...

Hunters in Michael Huber Prairie Warbler Preserve?

Best to check, as you did. A friend of mine was walking her dog 2 weeks ago on a Sunday and was confronted by a hunter in a stand (right on a dirt road) that it was "illegal" for her to be in the woods as it was bow season. She had orange on and her dog had a cowbell on, but best to be carefull...

    First Snow

Snow or no snow, the big question here is was it cold enough to kill those dastardly Chiggers? Winslow area we haven't had a hard frost yet.

    Here we go again

    Chatsworth Lake

No, no dip this year. We are usually in a more secluded spot than parked on route 532, so I didn't want to change into dry clothes in the open. :)

    Chatsworth Lake

I spent a great day with my brother Tom (this is my annual birthday trip). We spent all day on Chatsworth Lake, did well fishing (caught a lot of Pickerel) and saw the Bald Eagles (Mom,Dad and at least one immature). It was a really a nice day to be out! The only problem, I still don't have a...

Batsto Country Living Fair 2011 is Cancelled

I'm not to familiar with the area you mentioned, but the company I work for designs and oversee's many underground utility installations. The environmental regulations can be an absolute nightmare. Plus, many townships have few, or no drawings of what is already underground, but the contractor...

    It's hard hat time.....

My wife and I just spent a week in the eastern Kentucky mountains. Hiked every day. No ticks, no chiggers, no bugs, nice weather. Got back Saturday night. Took a walk in the pines on Sunday, high humidity, got chigged pretty good, and bombarded by acorns when I walked through some oaks. It was...

Walden, or Life in the Woods

I honestly don't know much personnally about these people, but were they rich? Most of us are middle class workers who have families to support, and we need to work in "the world" to support them. The pines are my weekend retreat to refresh myself, but I could never consider moving into the...
