5th Annual Lines on the Pines "About Blueberries and Cranberries"

A little late to this thread, but here goes! It was great seeing everybody, at an event that was extremely well planned and produced by Linda, Paul, and everybody else that was involved. It was great seeing both old and new friends, at both the pre-dinner event, and the dinner itself. Anybody...

    El Nino

The "Euro" model, which has been very good at predicting precip amounts this far out are supporting a good 4-5" rainfall. Other, American models aren't far behind with similar amounts. Large sections of woods, yards, and even some roads are still underwater near me.

    what's burning?

The Press (Atlantic City) had an article on the Barnegat Twp fire as well: http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/breaking/article_db2513fa-3463-11df-9f3a-001cc4c03286.html

    Tick

It may have been a harsh winter snow-wise, however temperature-wise it was far from it. With only a few nights below 10, our temperatures were actually fairly mild. Winters usually feature a few nights below zero (most times it was "just" cold enough to snow- a lot, persistently). After a few...

    Netflix

A friend of mine has Netflix and links it to a Roku box. Its pretty cool little device, you're of course limited to what they have available for streaming but theres still a good amount available. The Roku also pulls other stuff off the internet as well like a "Flickr" channel, Pandora music...

The Risley Branch, a PBX Hike

Looks like a great hike guys! Good thing you went yesterday, after all this rain today its going to be a mess for a while till it freezes again. I did a similar walk today just as the rain started in some local pond/bog areas near my house... it was slippery. Very nice photos from all.

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

Well, if somebody does enough research there might be enough information to provide info to the authorities. Or atleast have them look out for them... it isn't just Myspace either. Sadly, (as somebody mentioned above) it is well known... look at the "official" definition on a well known...

    quaker bridge tavern ?

Amazing research Jerseyman, thanks! Refencing Guy's link, the cellar hole there is where I took those pictures of the damage (bricks turned up). I haven't been over there lately though, so I don't know what condition it's in now. Not visible on the Bing Map, across "Washington Road" is...

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

I cringe every time I open this thread wondering what I'm going to find next. Sadly, if nothing is done it probably will come down sooner or later either by the state or somebody that takes it down. Good job on going to clean up the ground around it, every bit helps. A quick google search of...

    Southern NJ Temps

Boyd is correct- as the temperature lowers there is less moisture in the air, so the snow ratio rises. Up in the snowbelts of the Great Lakes you can have ratios of 20, 30 or more to 1. Here in South Jersey it is usually around 10:1 though, which is why people use it as a general rule... wet...

    Oldest House in the Pines?

Well... yes and no :). Like many state highways it did travel on existing dirt roads for at least some portion of it's allignment. In the case of S-40 an existing dirt road from Four Mile to present day CR-539 in Ocean County was updgraded. Southeast of there it was a new cut, as the road then...

    Oldest House in the Pines?

Very interesting article Jerseyman, thank you for posting it! I find it soebering and somewhat eerie how the praise stated in the article for the new NJ-S40 (present day NJ-72), is indirectly and in some cases directly related to the demise of many such sites in these "forgotten" towns. It...

    Snow ??

I had picked up about 1/2" here, it was an odd storm thanks to how it was dynamically enchanced. In other words, it snowed wherever the heavier precip was, thereby dragging the colder air to the surface. This is why ACY airport and surrounding environs reported snow for several hours, while...

    Mullica Township? Yes or No

I saw that too, although from what I gathered it seemed more like an upgraded version of what Atlanticare has there now in the former Kessler building. I don't believe, at this stage of planning that there would be any longer term (overnight) care available. You'd still have to either go to...

Oregon 300 on sale at REI for $250

I found myself out in Pittsburgh over the weekend, and stopped into an REI out there on chance that maybe they'd have a 300 left. As luck would have it, they did... one, in addtion to the one on display. Thought about it for a day, then went back and purchased it the next day. Won't be playing...

Oregon 300 on sale at REI for $250

Thanks for the correction Boyd, I didn't realize the difference in storage space. Though it makes sense. 1 Gig will still store a decent amount of data at least, then combined with a card you could have coverage comparable to what the 400t offers (using freely available topo data). The 24MB on...
