    Yo!

ebsi- i'm not really sure what it has to do with cheesesteaks, but i really enjoyed your story and it prompted me to find out what a baculum is. (for the unenlightened: http://www.luckymojo.com/raccoonpenis.html) apparently the literal latin translation is "little rod," although it appears...

    Haines Bank Cave?

yeah great post! that definitely clears up what they mean by caves. if so many people used that method of preliminary shelter, i wonder how often there were cave collapses. an eroded riverbank doesn't seem like the most structurally stable area as whatever eroded it would probably still be...

    Haines Bank Cave?

According to this page John Haines, one of the early farmer inhabitants of Medford, lived for some time in a cave on the south branch of the rancocas at a place now known as Haines Bank. this really got my attention cause i've never heard of any other caves in nj (besides the artificial...

    Archaeology Courses

I just took a physical anthropology course last semester and really liked it. not much hands-on experience or anything, but just really interesting subject matter. I'm definitely going to take cultural too andpossibly do some more advanced stuff after that. i'd love to do one of those summer...

Friend bailed; Thoughts/feelings on solo backpacking?

did you get the sub kilo on sale too? i just picked that up a few weekends ago and have been sleeping in my hennessy hammock in the backyard to get used to it--very comfy! i didn't have any plans about when i'd do the batona trail, but i planned to do some shorter solo hikes to places like the...

    camping trip

i'd love to do some camping and paddling, but if you're leaving on the 29th (in the middle of the week) not sure if i could make it. if you're going that weekend, however, i doubt i'd have a problem taking off a friday or monday for a nice 3-day trip.

Friend bailed; Thoughts/feelings on solo backpacking?

watchmaker- I'm just getting into backpacking and one of my goals for the summer is to do the batona trail solo, but I'd definitely like to go through it with somebody first. When are you planning on going? And also which direction? I would lean towaqrd starting in the south because that way...

    Junk Yards

don't know when it's open, but i've been wanting to get inside wade salvage on jackson road in atco for the longest time--they have some crazy stuff in there! when you drive by you can see huge airplanes and trains and buses and cranes and all kinds of cool stuff. i've been thinking about...

    Pasadina

why not? that sounds like it would be awesome...is it just cause they're too far in the distance that all you see is little balls of color and nothing else? i remember being a little disappointed by how incredibly tiny and faint the view of the philly skyline was from there.

    Kayak Suggestions?

I just started kayaking but i've already been in many rivers and lakes in the area and hidden several paddle-to geocaches (yes, i'm bringing those stupid things up again!) i know everybody's saying not to get an inflatable, but that's exactly what i did and i really like it. of course, i...

    Gas prices.

i have a crv, which is probably the wussiest possible suv. still, the 4 cylinder engine means it gets gas milage comparable to a car, and i use it for all my pine barrens driving. surprisingly, i've never had any trouble with it getting stuck. so far the 4x4 has been totally adequate for driving...

    Body World

i've been wanting to see that for quite some time. the professor who invented the plastination process is a really crazy guy...he almost reminds me of a mad scientist. i believe he was also the first person to perform an autopsy on live tv. i need to make sure i get over there before it ends...

    Bucket feeders

i saw something similar with pellets in it, but it had a plastic lid on it too, so i don't know how deer would get to the food...

    Bog Bodies

i believe they came down here to voorhees once to shoot a scene at catelli's restaurant, so it's not like they aren't capable of shooting in SJ. you could get restaurant interior shots in north jersey easily, so why come down here for it?

    Bog Bodies

i actually heard that they're putting one there because of the movie. don't know if its true or not though. when that movie first came out there was a review that actually did a geographical analysis of how far off it was from reality.

    Bog Bodies

and what about harold and kumar, where they're supposed to be in cherry hill and they hang glide off a cliff over huge tracts of farmland where the only lit building for miles is the white castle :bs: or, for that matter, zoolander when he goes home to "the coal mines of south jersey"...
