    Tuesday with Alfie

This is a follow-up to post # 279 representing part two of today's Tuesday with Alfalfa journey. After the leisurely dancing, we decided to bushwhack from the medders over to the oft-of-recent visited Tulpehocken Creek western tributary and the Toop itself. Large beaver lodge on...

    Tuesday with Alfie

Mister Medder Follow Alfie as he leads us on a journey through a series of lovely meadows accessed via Hawkin Lowland Road in Wharton. Meadows expired, but the day was young. Alfie sets course for new territory. Stay tuned.

Skit, Alfie ... at this beaver dam somewhat downstream from Batona Camp. You should remember it well. Remember the bees? :)

I'm amazed. My guess, Bob, was that you took your photograph and later squared it up with mine and realized they matched. But to have studied my photo and to recognize its location out of the blue in the wild says a lot about your attention to both detail and of your keeping a keen eye while...

    Tuesday with Alfie

Not much of a day for shooting photos, but there's never a non-interesting day spent in the pines with Alfie. I'd wanted to show Al a beautiful beaver dam on the main western tributary of the Tulpehocken. Naturally, we took the long way there, also avoiding trails at all cost...

    Bats still dying in N.J.

Sorry, Charlie. :) Alfie and I met in a cave, in New York, though we lived only a few miles apart here in South Jersey. We were both crawling a muddy passage in the back of the cave and came face to face. "Hey! Mind if I take your picture, Stranger?" The rest is history.

    bay days

Alfie, We talked with the gentleman quite a bit. He's lived in Sea Breeze since he was a child. With respect to his privacy I won't post much of what he said here, but I can tell you he is one heartbroken man. He and two other residences are holding fort on the lane heading into town. Bob...

    Not Pine Barrens ....

Looks smarter than your average bear to me, Boo Boo. I'm thinking he's looking for a pic-a-nic basket.

to the end of the land

Appreciate the feedback, folks. It was a beautiful trip. We took a quick ride up to Blackwater Falls State Park, Piker. (Not enough time to do the multitude of hikes, etc., we wanted in the five days there.) Here's a shot of Blackwater Falls. There is much less water in the river than...

to the end of the land

Oh drat. Well, I knew I was on Canaan Mountain, and that I was looking into a valley. I also realized that Canaan Valley proper was the resort area East of the location. To be honest, I was tempted to describe the photos "Valley view from Canaan Mountain" but lazily shortened it...

Freddie did do great, Gloria. Here he is at Bear Rocks, using his phone to make a call to his mother. Can you read his lips? "Dad hasn't killed me yet, Ma." It was nice having five days unexposed to cell-phone towers. Canaan Valley
