i need help with the martha area

You are 2.75 miles as a crow flys to the Northwest from where you are standing in the water. Easiest way to Martha is to follow the road that runs along the stream at Harrisonville Lake. The road starts across the street from the Bodine Field Campground entrance on Rt. 679.

    Cool historical Topo Maps

I used to hunt there in the 70s. You used to be able to ride all thru the area until the mine plowed the wide road thru it. I posted 2 pictures in my gallery of a stream that used to run thru the old road that the mine made into a highway.

i need help with the martha area

The road and the water in it looks like Prince Place Rd. The ruins at the top of the hill with field behind it was my uncles hunting club. Vandels burnt it down in the 8os.

Local lobbyist repeatedly stabbed by wild buck

That reminds me of a buck at the Albert Brother's place. They had to put it in a pen every year because it would get very aggressive during the rut. He called him Bucky I believe. It went after my friend one year. I heard a story that it did injure a person but I never knew if that was true or not.

    Chatsworth North....A PBX Hike

Why do people always have to poke around a hunter's stand when you can see it is in use. By showing the stand and camera it is now possible for other people to find it and possibly harrass the guy or steal his stand and canera. What did he do to deserve that?

    New Jersey's Public Hunting Lands

There is a decline because there are fewer places to hunt. Many of the farms and fields hunted in the past now have houses on them. Every where my dad would take me now have developements.

I wish the state would plant some quality feed on the food plots on the Wildlife Management Areas.

    Joe Mulliner's Grave

Does anybody know where the grave of Joe Mulliner is? It is said to be along Pleasant Mills-Nesco Road. There used to be a gravestone but it was taken in the 60's and never replaced. It was said the state had placed a historical marker.

Searching For The Elusive Gun Club

Great pictures. Hunters today do not know what roughing is like. Those pics look like ones from when my club hunted in tents in the late 30s and 40's up around Martha.

Many agree on need to thin pinelands, but disagree on whether to use fire or ax

Yea that was a very bad fire. It was from Pasadena-Woodmansie Rd by the Trenton Club to 539 and then jumped 539 to the Bamber side. If the winds had shifted it could have just as easy moved north towards Rt 70 and did serious damage to the people in that area.

Many agree on need to thin pinelands, but disagree on whether to use fire or ax

The fact is everybody has an agenda. The forester can say the same thing about the people against him as what they say about him. I know the forester in the article personally and I find it funny how people are so against any forester suggesting any type of management plan. I have not heard...

Many agree on need to thin pinelands, but disagree on whether to use fire or ax

I am for controled cutting and planting. This method can provide jobs and resources. Trees are a renewable resource unlike oil. I do not mind the woods burning but that is something that has a possiblity of getting out of control by accident. You can be selective on what to cut by logging.

Forest fire SW of Atsion Lake

They planted oak and pine trees. If you look you can see that large oak and pine trees were left behind. One problem some people have with forestry projects is when an area is first logged. They get upset seeing a cleared area. Nature takes time to grow, even when the area is planted or left...
