1930 aerials now cover all of NJ

Just noticed that Atlantic County also has 1940's aerials. Not sure where those would fit since nobody else has imagery from then. Quality seems to vary but some is quite good. Atsion 1940

1930 aerials now cover all of NJ

As far as the Pines go, there really hasn't been any change in this new map. However, for the areas across the river from Philadelphia, I used the 1928 imagery where it was available. Have not taken any time at all to compare, but you can see some clear differences here, for example. The NJ...

1930 aerials now cover all of NJ

This map has now been updated with 1924 NYC and 1928 Philadelphia imagery. The name has been changed, but old links to the 1930's aerials will still work, with an alert. I was initially concerned with the quality of the Philadelphia imagery, which is a muddy sepia. But it cleaned up real...

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Thanks. Yeah, I saw that page and don't believe they have anything beyond NJGIN. I actually laughed when I saw they linked to Historical Aerials. And the link to NJGIN just gives a page not found error. On the website from some other county, vintage aerials turned up with a document search. The...

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Atsion from the 1970 Atlantic County aerials. The resolution isn't as good on these.

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Have spent some time on this, and the biggest take-away is that those Atlantic County 1957 aerials are terrific. Really wish other counties had those, but haven't been able to find any more. Have downloaded them all now, coverage goes well beyond Atlantic County, but not as far as I'd like...

    Rutgers Historical Maps of NJ

You might also enjoy this dataset: https://gisdata-njdep.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/njdep::surficial-geology-of-new-jersey/about That's what I used to display the geology in my pinesXT app, but unfortunately I don't cover that far North. However, you can access the map directly here and it...

    Rutgers Historical Maps of NJ

Found this while looking for more vintage aerials. I'm sure some of you are already familiar with it, but I hadn't seen this web page before. Lots of good stuff here, although permission is only granted for private viewing. https://geography.rutgers.edu/historical-maps-of-new-jersey

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Atsion in 1957. The Atlantic County imagery has some coverage beyond the county line. :)

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Funny how one thing leads to another and sometimes things just fall into place. Atlantic County has some very nice aerials on a county website, we've discussed in the past here. I looked a few years ago and found metadata that said they were public domain but couldn't find any way to download...

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Do you mean this area? We've discussed before and IIRC concluded that terraserver was using this same 1990's NAPP imagery, processed in black and white and highly compressed for the slow internet speeds back then. This map should be higher quality since we don't need to compress so highly now.

    1950's, 60's and 70's aerials

Note: I split this from another thread discussing the 1930's aerials since it's going to be a whole new project! Well, I went down a rabbit hole and apparently ended up in a big cavern! There really are a lot of vintage aerials at DVRPC. This is the coverage of the 1959 aerials, for example...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I never really "wash" my car but hose it down every time I go into the woods, the dust is amazing. Snapped this out the window in Peaslee WMA. No wind, so it just hangs in the air. It was sunrise and I never saw another car, would be rough to follow someone in these conditions.

1930 aerials now cover all of NJ

This map is only two weeks old and I already have an upgrade in progress! Originally, I had hoped to cover beyond New Jersey but wasn't finding files. Had another look today and have now downloaded 1924 aerials for New York City and 1928 aerials for Philadelphia. Need to dig further and see what...

    Visiting the Monster

I have a friend who lives in the Village in NYC and really looks like Howard Stern. But he leaned into it, wore a tee shirt around town that said "I'm not HIM" and became sort of a minor celebrity in his own right. :D

    1990's Mid-Atlantic aerials incoming

The new map is now online; it replaces the old South NJ 1995 BW Aerials. Any links to that old map should now put up an alert and take you to the new map. Have to look a little closer at my old code, but I *think* the old 1995 aerials will be automatically removed if you have them in your...

    1990's Mid-Atlantic aerials incoming

I uploaded the new map last night and installation is currently underway, it should be available later today. I think the new server is "beefy" enough that there won't be a noticeable performance hit while this is in progress. Will post again when it's ready!
