I was there back in the early 90"s.Wasn't any touring to be had then though the Army did take me up in a helicopter and give me a tour of the Finger lakes at 1200 ft.Hanging out of the door every time they banked a turn. Now that was pretty cool:-)

A hunter lied about poaching deer. (Not NJ)

There is a military installation called Fort Seneca in NY Finger Lakes region.I did several annual trainings there whilst in the National Guard. It is a storage facility for nukes and is heavily guarded with multiple fences and concertina wire and such around it.They have a herd of deer in there...

A hunter lied about poaching deer. (Not NJ)

If they are concerned about over population of deer the first thing the state could do is to quit planting fields specifically for deer to eat from in all the state WMA"s. It seems to me their trying to play a game where they increase the deer population as much as practicable to increase...

A hunter lied about poaching deer. (Not NJ)

Unfortunately skill and knowledge has largely been replaced by bait piles nowadays.Used to be you had to figure out where the deer were and when by tracks and sign. Now just throw out some sweet taters and bring em to you.

A model for the geomorphology of the Carolina Bays

You are saying wind action created those perfect ellipses all on the same directional axis? Is this what created the many vernal ponds here in South Jersey? Why the perfection in axis and shape in the carolinas but not elsewhere? Maybe, Just perhaps the carolina bays are Squatch tracks in snowshoes?

A hunter lied about poaching deer. (Not NJ)

Do poachers always poach during hunting season? I think if I made up my mind to poach that would be the last time of year I"d want to do it.

A model for the geomorphology of the Carolina Bays

Now that I study this I think I have it figured out! They"re Bigfoot Tracks Bob! They plainly look like very large Moccasin Tracks, either Bigfoot wears Mocks or it could be a heavily furred sole? No meteorite would leave impressions pinched in the middle.. This is a family of Ice Age Squatches...

A model for the geomorphology of the Carolina Bays

Much more erratic then the Bays but definitely interesting. Perhaps dropped from a more vertical trajectory and hence less regular in shape?

New snake species hiding in plain sight

There is a blanket law against "harassing" wildlife in NJ.What Harassing entails I guess would be up to the game official your dealing with and the jury at the trial.I"d say if me or you is handling the snake it is harassment. If someone with a college degree in Environmental Sciences is doing...

Car found in Mullica River, body discovered inside

you know there are a few places above tidewater in the Mullica that would be over my head but those places are very few.I"d say he probably could have opened his door and stepped out into chest deep water? I have been at the precise spot he went in at but can't say for sure how deep it would be...

Boyd's Map of the Pines beta available

This map really is awesome, the historical buildings alone make it worth the download and of course the property lines and contours are the icing on the cake. Definitely it will be on my GPS when I head into the woods on stone hunts or any hike in general. Thanks Boyd!

DEP Releases New Wildlife Action Plan

Racers have no venom but I"d say the attitude is worse then a cobra:-) I don't get the special concern status. Their one of our most common snakes. That with garters, black rats and northern water snakes.
