Yes they have legal sanction now to force you into oncoming traffic. Most of them don't even use signals to let you know their pulling out.Yes it indeed took a moron to come up with this law.I would rather see them block the road like a school bus does, much less dangerous.I"ve worn my bird out...

    Bay to Bowl

Scott, There is an island in the marsh visible from the bridge over Weir Creek (the first bridge before the end of the road at Turkey Point) It would be to your left (southeast) from the bridge.I used to hang out on that island back in the late 80's with my dog. There is or was a way out there...

    Bay to Bowl

I"ve canoed out to the duck shacks in the Glades and went crabbing off their docks. All but one shack was locked up tight.never made it to the one closest to Egg island though I have been to egg island twice.Once I kayaked in summer and another time I walked there from fortescue after swimming...

    Sycamores

I can vouch for their unsplitability! As a teenager my chore was to split the family firewood with a 16 lb maul.We had two chopping blocks. One was Red Maple, the other Sycamore. They were both rubber trees as far as i was concerned.I could split neither, not get the maul stcu neither,it just...

I really have no problem with jaywalking as long as they look and wait for cars.If you know how to cross the street and act accordingly there shouldn't be a problem with where you cross.I know on High Street in Millville I often have to park across the street and mid block from where I"m...

    This effects us all

We are or should be taught how to cross the street as kids. Why all the sudden should everyone be allowed to forget the rules of look both ways and wait till it's clear. The parents are now dumber then the kids used to be. Another stupid law is the one recently passed that public transit buses...

    Sycamores

I think sycamore are one of the purtiest trees around due to the bark.Maybe thats why they planted them.I know they like water and do better where they can have lots of it.There is a big sycamore in Roadstown down the street from my Moms.We had dry summers two years in a row a few years ago and...

    Spring Flies

I still refer to them as chiggers anyway even though i now consider them tick larvae and yes Jiggers is a more correct local pronunciation. I"m not really stressing over what they really are.I know I hate them and I know how to combat them.It just sucks that the best hiking time of the year has...

Marker in the woods where 3 counties meet, Ocean, Burlington, and Atlantic

I have a small stone inscriber and have always thought of making some markers myself and putting them at the corners of topos that fall on state land. Even a tri county marker would be interesting.I wouldn't be surprised if you nav to the spot and there isn't something alrady there on that one...

    Spring Flies

I was researching this awhile back and a friend of mine you know said they are tick larvae and I found a site on the web with pics of bot and descriptions and it looks to me like he is right.Chiggers are usually only found singly, not in clots or clusters and are bright red.Tick larvae are brick...

    Spring Flies

Mosquitoes usually show up mid to late May.Biting flies usually Mid June and last until about August first.Just in time for Chigger season.I recently found out that what we call chiggers is really tick larvae..Skeeters last till really cold nights kill them off though not necessarily frost.

Valued Friendship, a PBX Winter Hike

If you refer to the river that drains through Union lake and hits the bay at East Point by anything other then the pronunciation of "Morris" around here you are immediately taken for a Shoobie. This is usually not a flattering term.We know how to spell it but we have our own pronunciation.Same...
