    Netflix

We've had Netflix for at least 6 years. It's awesome. Right now we have it set up so we can download movies to a queue and watch them instantly on TV. The newer ones aren't available for immediate download so we still get DVDs mailed to us. It's fantastic. I recommend it highly.

    Breaker One Nine

My husband has a CB, truck drivers still use 'em. Surprisingly, the modern version doesn't really look much different. That middle thing. Leg to a pedal sewing machine?

    life after people

Yes, of course diseases are shared by species, and that is how they are passed around, but most viruses, for example, evolve so they affect one species more than others. There are vectors and carriers, but a virus has very specific criteria for who or what it can infect. Giraffes don't get...

    life after people

No, it isn't really discussed, that's just my logic. And no, viruses like that tend to be mainly species specific. That's why your dog doesn't generally get the flu or a cold from you.

    life after people

Disease, DK. Like the avian flu or some new airborne virus similar to Ebola, might effectively wipe us out. I think it's a very useful thought experiment, actually, because it underlines what our impact is on the earth. This show is so totally fascinating to me, being a bio geek. And I...

    Abandoned guinea pig at Carranza

That makes me very sad that someone would have such disregard for a living creature, but it plays over and over again.

    Another winter forecast says....

I still can't believe it. Nice Christmas present, eh? The bus doesn't come with the house, by the way. Bob, I'm a research scientist for Pfizer animal health. You know what, Boyd? Michigan isn't THAT cold. Comparable to New England. It snows practically every day in Dec-January though...

    Another winter forecast says....

Thanks, Boyd. :) This is our new place. It is private and wooded, has five acres, a heated workshop, a pond AND river frontage. (yes, it has both). We got it for 230. I can still hardly believe it...

    Another winter forecast says....

No you sillyhead. :) The map. I was referring to the map. We found a great house and had our offer on it accepted yesterday. Unbelievable what you can get for your money in MI. I start my new job Feb 1 or 8th, I am not sure yet. I am hoping for the 8th, I have a lot of work to do for this move!

I love NJ and everything in it. Well, almost everything. It certainly makes ME happy.

New Jersey: full of unhappy people?

Freaking great. I was all happy about this until I saw that Michigan is two places below NJ. Good thing I'm moving there in five weeks.

    Snow ??

Whoa, Bob! That's a lotta snow! Surely a few more inches than we have in Trenton. That looks like more than 12". We probably have 8 so far, but it's still coming down!
