    Where is this?

I'm pretty sure that the aluminum pier at Amasas Landing, was built as part of a mitigation project, from the NJ Turnpike Authority, for widening the Parkway.

    Tardigrade

That will be great to search and view them with. It would be really excellent if you could take pics of them(assuming you will find some). I had never heard of them until your posting. They are a fascinating critter. Happy hunting!

    Tardigrade

Tardigrades average 500 um, half a MM. About the size of the period at the end of this sentence. A head of a pin is about 2 MM. They might be better seen with a good hand lens (10x) or standard dissecting scope 10x,20,30x I would think.

Pine Barren Culture; Dead or Alive

I have lived the better part of my life in the Bass River area, from 1974 on. I'm a third generation baymen and knew some of the local pineys in Bass River, Tuckerton, Lowerbank, and Green Bank. The dying off of the oysters, and scarcity of clams by the late 70's made all but the most hardy...

    Favorite/Coolest Place in the Pines

That diverter and the canal to the pond area, has also been one of my most favorite, easy to get to spots. Beautiful at all seasons. Took a couple of lawn bags worth of trash (bottles mostly) out of there a few weeks ago. Apparently getting to be a favorite spot for resting canoes and kayakers...

    Help for the Shore Towns?

In the case of OC. They spent years dredging sand from behind the island(the bay)and pumping it onto the beach. Now they want to reverse that and put sand on the bayside. Does anyone else see the humor in that?

    Interesting Article (Blacklegged Ticks)

Because of all of the ticks I had been bitten by, and never developed Lymes, I reasoned that some of us might be immune or developing immunity. Last summer needing 8 weeks of antibiotic treatment to get rid of the disease...cured that supposition.
