Off Road Abuse of Wharton State Forest Continues

On a related note, Open Trails NJ has received approval and permission from the DEP to install at Jemima Mount on June 5th "gates with guard rails at the entry points. Water bars will be installed on the face to prevent further erosion and allow for re-vegetation." Hopefully 1/4 mile is next.

Off Road Abuse of Wharton State Forest Continues

Yeah, no argument there...more from an enforcement perspective if this fella was caught those signs would help in conviction. Too bad his license plate was not visible :)

Off Road Abuse of Wharton State Forest Continues

Here's one from April 24, 2016.....some of the guys on here seem to know every square inch of this place and might recognize this location...you can see SIX state forest signs at the 13 second mark.......he then proceeds to bury his Jeep....I'm guessing no motorized vehicle and state regs signs.....

Off Road Abuse of Wharton State Forest Continues

On that second video...is that "road" normally like that...or is that a seasonal flooding issue? To have two possibly lifted Wranglers and then separately that abandoned white pickup truck stuck and then such a long stretch of road underwater (it almost looks like you could kayak)...should be an...

    Bass River fire

"At 1:30 p.m. Friday, officials reviewed the scene from a helicopter and declared the blaze 90 percent contained. About 460 acres are involved, and officials expected that number to be the final size of the fire. "We've bumped up that containment percentage significantly," said Michael Achey...

    North Branch Mt. Misery Brook

Great photos (as always), I do hope you have a chance to go back as the direct light has washed out some of the detail....that first photo looks primeval...an overcast sky would make it really pop. Great work.

    Are Coyotes a threat?

Yes. They had listed the photo as being "recent" while it appears as though the photo was taken on or before 12/02/2015. Thanks for the feedback.

    Tsunami buoy event off NJ

Fantastic! I lived in Amelia Island, FL for a year and shark tooth beach collecting was practiced by many....I grew up at the Jersey shore and never thought once about sharks in the water (obviously they are there) but Florida's waters always made me pause.....still swam in the water just not...

    Tsunami buoy event off NJ

Thanks for posting the update. I had "hoped" a Leviathan from the deep had caused it or a meteor. Routine maintenance is rather anticlimactic.

    Possible Black Bear

As an FYI and with the caveat that I am hearing this second hand (and unfortunately there are no photos). Having said that a young woman is reporting to Fish and Wildlife that this morning on the Mullica River Trail near the intersection with the purple trail connector she spotted bear scat as...
