The Forest Springs Hotel burned down in 1895. There is a picture of the spring at the West Jersey History Project site. It's still there on private property and covered up.
Nice trip, pretty much the same things. A lot of Platanthera clavellata. The flags were from a field trip given by Mt.Cuba. They must have had limited time so someone went out the day before and scouted.
I did a trip with the Philadelphia Botanical Club yesterday and we crossed paths with the group that did the flagging. They put them out before the trip and removed them as they left yesterday.
The wheels are in motion. BTW- The road names are similar to some of our botanical names. You can get several common names for a single plant but a positive ID requires the scientific name!
Kind of what I've been saying (although not on this site). Town council would have to pass a resolution and that would be fairly recent and easy to find in the minutes online. If he puts a gate up and it's not his property, we will know then.
If Hammonton gave him the road it would have been approved by the town council. You could call the town hall or read through the minutes of the meetings.
