What was your first (Pine Barrens) car?

Thanks Bob. Yeah, I looked at the jeep and other 4X4's but the the LC had unbelievable character, like it was meant to be in Africa or Australia. And many guys did V-8 conversions on the LC 'cause the 6 cylinder just didn't have the g-force, a lot of torque but not much speed. I wanted the...

    seabreeze will be no more

Question Quote from above article: "This is the DEP - they're supposed to be protecting wildlife," said Fariello, land manager for Wildlife Preserves Inc., a nonprofit land-conservation organization that owns 2,800 acres in the township, including several vacant lots on Beach Avenue. "This...

"Freedom's just another word for something else to lose." Here in my little town there's a sign: "Swim at your own risk." I love signs like that.

What was your first (Pine Barrens) car?

First car was a dark blue '63 Chevy Impala convertible, straight 6 and 3 speed on the column. Had a "trailer" made from the rear of a pick-up truck. We built a wooden cage on the trailer so I could strap my powder blue 15 foot '71 Lenape Chief canoe onto it. The canoes maiden voyage was at Iona...

    Too Many Blues

:words:Whew, had me worried for a nano-second (that's one-billionth of a second for those of us who count'em). I would be very excited if Columbia could do such a thing, cross training from Coca to Blues, not sure if their climate would support such a transition though. The weather and elevation...

    Beer (again)

I introduced my German boss to Sam Adams Octoberfest brew and he liked that. Also Rolling Rock. Right now he is smitten with Yuenglings. If you've ever been to Germany you will find yourself in the Valhalla of Beers. I liked the weiss beers over there.

    Too Many Blues

TeeGate started a thread on this topic on 7/16. My comment would probably be considered "harsh". We just bought some blues in our local Publix supermarket. Labeled "BLOOZ" from Hammonton, NJ (TomM!!! Where are you????). Grown and Packed by Columbia (?) Blueberry Farms. (Is this a Columbian drug...

Searching For The J Roger Brick Stone

Might be a tad easier in the winter when it is frozen over. Unbelievable story. Makes me feel like an explorer from ages past ! I'm sure y'all feel something akin to that, too. Hope you find the blarney stone. You should kiss it when you do finally find it!

    Little Things

I recall an earlier posting about an Orchid the deer love to munch on, just can't recall its name!!!! And I recall you put the fence around some specimens. I guess you would have to make a fence "box" to prevent the deer from reaching down inside. Your heart was in the right place.

    Atsion Mansion report

I have a pair of cannon-balls from the Revolution, possibly British, not sure. Jerseyman and I have discussed this in past postings. I wish there was a way to determine their origin (assay?). If they were Atsion or Batsto origin I'd donate them. What a beautifully restored building. I wish you...

U.S. blueberry purchase to benefit N.J. growers

I guess that's another "stimulus package" deal. Taxpayers money again, no matter which way you look at it. Why don't they buy surplus bologna? Cause congress has a surplus of that already. That and manure from bulls.

    Strange Fly Deaths

Appears to be the natural progress of decay. Fungi seem to be the first to take advantage of this progress. I recall a discussion here about fungi and a scientist who proposes a lot of kooky stuff about them.

    Beer (again)

Reminds me of the bumper-sticker, now a C+W song: "My wife said if I go fishin' one more time she's leavin'; I'm sure gonna miss her!" Just exchange fishin' for drinkin'. I'd need a drink if I had to come home to one of them there babes! LOL !

    swimming

I used to love to swim at Harrisville Lake, drops deep not far from the launch area, cold water down deep, hard sandy bottom, and nice and clean. Also the sand quarry pond on the left as you get into Menantico FWMA, but not sure if you are "allowed". All the streams have areas you can swim in...
