No Copperheads in the Pines?

Here's a few idea's that may be a factor. - Northern copperheads in N.J. seem to like rocky slopes with water close by. Most likely because one of their prey items are frogs. Yes there are plenty of frogs in the barrens but the water quality is much different. The water in the mountains tends...

This is one of the reasons why it's a bad idea to get caught in the wood with a hook and camera in N.J.. :bs:

    A Case in Herpetological Conservation

This guy has been around for years. Every please forgive me for talking like this but I don't care how old he is now. His brash attitude and disreguard for the law would cause an automatic @ss beating if it was up to me. Again sorry for the anger in my tone.

    Magellan Explorist 300..........

Actually when I went to Europe on a trip the taxi driver was talking about the unit he had and said that there was a access fee which equaled out to about 60 american dollars (one time fee). This was charged at time of purchase. Weird.

    Magellan Explorist 300..........

The no access fee's is one of the selling points that I liked most. Plus, they are small and compact. I do like the Garmin product better if I were to buy a unit for my vehicle. I guess you can't go wrong with either companies. They seem to be pretty equal.

    Coastal Plains Milksnake

The coastal plains milk snake "Lampropeltis triangulum temporalis" may very well be a valid subspecies. The work of Williams is what took it off the subspecies list and listed as an intergrade. It still need some work to determine it's actual place.

    SNAKE HELP

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was in Tx. in search of alterna. I've seen all the milks in roughly the same 5 mile range. Also, as far as the N.J. coastals being intergrades in sketchy at best as they have a completely different look than e. milks and both are different in the blotches...

    SNAKE HELP

:siren: Actually many are quite common if you know where to look. For example. Many feel that the coastal plains milk snake's are uncommon and they may very well be, but i've seen eight of them since july of last year without even looking very hard for them. So who knows. Maybe it's just...

    Bear sightings....

True. People have to be aware of their surroundings when living in bear country. I know of someone in North Carolina who was almost on the receiving end of a possible attack. He went into his barn one night and about an hour later an irate black bear was at his doorway and had no intentions on...

A Snapping Turtle and a Spotted Turtle

I'm not sure if it's still living. But the record size common snapping turtle was located in the Staten Island Zoo during the 1980's. They had said it was over 100lbs. and 20+ inches long. It was kept with a very large alligator snapping turtle.

    Snakes moving?

I remember that as we approached the pit was on the left side of the road. The pit was surrounded by dirt mounds and trees. I remember that the pit was huge. This was about 8-9 years ago. I was told then that it's been there for a long time. I'm not sure about the distance off of the parkway.
